This is not the same as the one came with the 2020 Tacoma. 2020 Tacoma doesn't have the CD slot, so this one is more like for the Sienna with a small screen size.

FYI. Infotainment.com has reconditioned 2020 Toyota radios with CarPlay that they claim will work in all 3rd gen Tacoma’s. The price is approximately $1900 but it includes an adapter wiring harness and it says it is programmed to your VIN. They indicate there is a compatibility guarantee but state they are still working on making the navigation functional and that they expect to have that part working later this year.

Checked our their website, it appears it's not compatible with JBL units, but states they're working on future compatibility:fingerscrossed:.

This comes up from time to time, and it’s a bit of a pain to dig up for reference, so here’s all of the relevant comments I could find summarized and aggregated:
    • The retrofit should be a straight swap
    • A jumper/harness is necessary
    • No wireless CarPlay
    • The retrofit will degrade existing mic performance in pre-2020 3rd gens
    • He worked specifically on the head unit

Aloha, I can't see why anyone would want to do this. I have a 2020 TRD SPORT with premium 8" non JBL. And so ready to replace head unit. I'm looking at something like the Kenwood Exelon with Maestro RR Interface. I already have full Kicker upgrades with a JL AUDIO 8" POWERED sub, sounds way better but not how I would like it.

It seems the New Pioneer WC6600NEX head unit will be a direct fit in the Toyota Tacoma With premium audio without a Metra dash kit.

    Cons: aftermarket mic.
Pros: 9” screen, wireless CarPlay/AA, Amazon Alexa, better sound quality and everything else.

This is one of two new floating head receivers that are along the same line as last years Alpine ILX-F309 head Unit. The base will mount in the dash and the display will be floating in front of the dash. It will require a mounting kit but one has not been introduced yet. This is not a direct fit.

At this point, aside from the toyota head units, the only direct fit units on the market for a toyota are the Joying and Dasita Android head units. Both of those have 9" screens which completely fill the opening in the tacoma dash. Both current versions offer wireless carplay and android auto.

I just received my Kicker Key today waiting on the harness. If this doesn't help I may be selling head unit. I'll keep you posted Hoksamoen

The W6600NEX is not a floating head unit as you say, it’s a modular display. The measurements of this head units are the exact same measurements of our head units and won’t require a dash kit.

sure, the Sony head unit (floating display) also fit our head units but the installation is more complex

The Sony HU is not iDatalink compatible, yes?
Still looking for a HU that doesn't look aftermarket while maintaining as much OEM as possible.
