33’s vs. 35’s - opinions??

Plenty, there's a couple threads dedicated to them. I myself run them heavily offroad, and I'll say they've been everything I wanted from a tire. They fit stock with minimal/zero rub (mud flap dependant), in my specific tire they have low road noise, great grip, and phenomenal traction. I have only gotten stuck with them when I've bottomed out frame/axles going into holes I never should have considered. Went to LBL recently and didn't get stuck once on some good trails/fire service roads. I love them, and I'll only go to 35's when I've done all my armor and other equipment, if ever.

they do well, but not as good as a wider tire with a bigger contact patch. Getting skinnies is like having a girlfriend with no ass. Still works just fine, just not as enjoyable.

 

To OPs question, 35s if you have money and time to spend. 35s definitely require COMMITMENT. Not for the frail hearted.

33s are a much more convenient tire. Great all arounder.

Other than armor, when you have a 2.7 that requires regearing even just jumping to 285s, the gap between what it costs to run 285s vs 315s gets closed very quickly.

I’ve already Done a good amount of cutting to clear 285s on stock suspension. Rubbed a little still, but not bad.

285s on stock suspension looks killer if done properly. My personal approach to off-roading is for the biggest tire that you can, with the least amount of lift.

 

I don't think 35s are as bad as people make it. Yeah, they require work, but it isn't hard if you will be modifying your truck anyway. The price of the regear is probably the biggest con.

I never asked, how much other work did you do to support that much lift? Diff drop, ECGS, brake lines, carrier bearing, etc?

 

I'm rocking 33s + 5.29 Regeared and would love 35s but can't imagine carrying a 35 spare in bed. Love the fact that I've a 33 spare under my bed (with little hammer time love).

I think people are forgetting the squish factor in their measurements.

I can't speak for everyone else or every tire brand but my 285/75R16 (which are almost new) measure out at 31.7" @ 42psi. Now that is not exactly a 33" tire....as proclaimed by the tire gods. My 35's measure at a true 35 when mounted because they are about 35.5" in diameter...

Unlike most, I run multiple tires throughout the year between 33s and 35s and the reason for that is they have different purposes.

To the OP's question a 33 would likely suffice every need. It wasn't a ton of work to fit 35s and they are worth it when offroading but you can easily offroad some decent trails with stock tires as well. Just depends on what you need.
