Change my View: RX350 Retrofit headlights are cheaper/better than current options

I am familiar with the Morimoto LED headlights, 2020 headlights and the new AlphaRex headlights and I see all of the discussion/install threads for those.

    I keep asking myself, why?

You can get Bi-Xenon RX350 retrofits + black painted bodies for aesthetics for <$1,000 (not including refundable core). I see one seller on here offers black OEM lights + RX350 retrofits for $850. They don't have the switchback fancy LED surround, fair enough. I think personally those are overdone and the 2016-2019 TRD DRLs are understated and look better. I also prefer the look of a big projector versus a bunch of smaller elements/lenses. I digress.

So, if you are going purely for light output and aesthetics of a black body headlight, why do most folks seem to be going for the aftermarket options when a retrofit option is there for less money?

Be sure to factor in, the ability to sell the stock headlight. Also, people are apprehensive about tearing open a perfectly good headlight.

But yes, I think most people agree that the RX350 provides superior lighting.

Warranties, quality of work, some people do not have the mechanical inclination to DIY albeit it is a very simple install.

I prefer the new Morimoto D2S 5.0 with their new AR coating and revamped cut off. Purchased that and the panamera 2.0 shroud on sale for $130. Retrofits can be had for very cheap if you DIY and can locate the parts at discount.

I agree, I did a BHLM on my 2018 and it was very difficult and there was a little collateral damage. These retrofits are best left to the pros. The last thing someone wants to do is ruin their headlights on a weekend project. I still think the $850 BHLM + RX350 retrofit is absolutely the way to go.

RX350 projectors are the way to go, I wouldn't even waste my time and money on another option for retrofits

edit: except maybe acura TL projectors.

I had RX350 retros on a previous car, and I remember being super proud of that cutoff. The headlights were so good I looked forward to driving at night.

I will do an RX350 bi-xenon retro shortly since I've already opened my lights up for BHLM.

Yes $850 + OEM headlights. I think there is an outright purchase without a core but I don't know what that is. I'm not trying to do any promotion for anyone.
