No sarcasm at all. The op updated the first post in the last couple of days, presumably adding info about the 2020 compatibility. :fingerscrossed:

    done!

The camera we sent out is a pormido, we like it because the adjustments are made using the supplied button, and it has more adjustments than most other cameras including brightness and color. We didn’t find it any more noting than any other cameras but would love to hear about your issues so we can try to fix what we can or maybe explain it better.

The controller supplies power to the camera, there are 2 sets of cables that supply either 6 or 12 volt power. As for grounding, I don’t know for a fact, mine’s not grounded but if there is a ground, I’m sure it’s the base of the camera.

    done!

Last update I got was not precise, they’re supposed to ship to me at the end of the month, so if we give it a week of tolerance and a really slow shipping schedule, I should have them by mid-late May.

The ground to the camera is being picked up through the RCA video connector.

Higher up is almost certainly better... it should allow for a wider (side-to-side) view. But on my stock 2017 Limited grille I really didn't have a lot of choice in the matter if I wanted to stay centered. And my experiments with "test" mounting positions convinced me that centering the camera was the right thing to do.

Back to my earlier comments about pulling the camera cable through the firewall . . .

I'm not sure what camera you will have, but with the Natika cable the hardest part to get through the firewall was the "junction" part circled in yellow in this picture. The 4-pin connector I had mentioned is circled in violet. Obviously this picture was taken before I actually pulled the wire through the firewall.

I have to see exactly what camera came with the Taco Garage Kit. The camera has a lead coming off the back of the camera and the end of that lead has a "quick connect" that is roughly 3/8" thick... once i pass that through, it seems i connect the other lead to the camera lead i passed through the firewall. its a two piece lead in its entirety. I'll lube it up with some teflon spray or something... I'll break open the box on my lunch break and take photos. I'm sure this thing is a lot simpler than i'm imagining it hahahah

you've helped me out a boat load as it already!

Did you figure this out? I also got the cam that they included and am not seeing any of the wire loops to fix these issues like people have been posting about the Natika... kinda thought that is the camera they would be including.

In FreshMex's post #504 above he mentions something about a button to adjust settings on the camera he provides. So maybe it has no wire loops?

There is no wire loops on our camera, you get something better, in the package there is a wired button that you can plug in that lets you change all the setting for the camera including horizontal mirror, vertical flip, color, brightness guide lines etc...

by the way, you can always message email or text us to get support on any of our products, with the Ovid situation right now we’re not always at the shop so we may not pick up calls as often but emails and texts we get to pretty quickly.

Whichever camera you use, I recommend you have the quick disconnect close to your grille so if you ever have to remove your grille for whatever reason, you won't be tied to your camera wire that you've run into the cab.

So far my camera only stays on for the 30 seconds everytime I switch it on how do I keep it on until I decide to switch it off?

I thought about this... The supplied camera has a disconnect that runs INTO the cab... So, I guess ill have to leave a fair amount of slack at the grill so that I can set it all inside the engine bay if i'm ever working in there o_O

That's interesting. The Natika has about four or five feet of cable attached directly to the camera. That ends in a round 4-pin female tubular connector about 3/8" diameter and maybe 1.5" long. Then there is the other cable that begins with a male 4-pin tubular connector that plugs into that female connector. About 18" back from that end is the "junction" that splits out 12VDC red and black wires to use if req'd. Then there's about another 20' or so of cable length ending in the RCA connector and trigger wire. Most of this 20' of cable ends up in a coil inside of the cabin. I have my 4-pin to 4-pin connection located alongside the washer fluid reservoir.

Aren't you glad so many peeps are stuck at home to help you? :annoyed:
