    Only 30 years of projects here, but I do the exact same thing. I will even pull hardware off of stuff before I dispose of it. Like I did with our old dishwasher.

    The only infuriating thing I find with keeping all the random screws/bolts/etc. around is that I always end up find one perfect fastener for what I'm doing... when I need 2 of them.

    Is there a similar solution for us third gen owners? I’d love to run my Garmin over on that side of the windshield. No grab handle though :(

    Just about the easiest mod I've done and quite useful as well. My version:

    I have a bunch of delrin stand-offs in the garage; cut a section to length, opened the end a bit with a 31/64, whacked the RAM in the hole -- held quite rigidly in the delrin 'housing'. 50mm SS cap head + SS lock washer, and good to go. Took 10 mins to complete.
