Any non running supercharger without actually history is a gamble regardless, it might just need a basic rebuild or there might be issues with the case damage inside or rotors damaged inside.

Ive seen both of these unseen damages from
other regretful buyers, its a gamble plus all the missing parts

 

My supercharger is currently at High Speed Labs.

Rebuild is $760 + shipping is $200. It sounds like their packaging is really nice and can be re used which is part of the shipping cost. Plus what ever else you have then do.
If you call them they’re super helpful with questions. Wade and Alicia are really nice.
Right now they’re pretty slammed due to shelter in place and distancing. I assume a lot of people took this shut down as a chance to get Supercharger’s rebuilt. so it might take a little longer than normal.

 

Yup, I just talked to him yesterday and he said hes more than slammed with work.
So might take a while to get it rebuilt unless time is not an issue

 

It’s good to hear they’re super busy. Edit: super slammed might not be all that great though.

I’m in no rush. My supercharger was absolutely trashed so I was expecting it to take awhile anyway. Also it’s only been on my truck for 1 day. So, not really missing anything.

 

Speaking of which: I am a perfect example of this. My supercharger was so screwed I contemplated counting the price I paid for it as a loss and making a lamp out of it.
In the end I’ll spend more than I would have for a brand new unit.

 

There is a great write up on it here in Tacomaworld, if you have a press I’m sure you could do it yourself. The trick with these (Like most things buying used) is the cost of the missing parts that we as buyers can’t see.

Yeah superchargers are fickle things and can be a money pit. If the supercharger is indeed the 1st gen, replacing the rear needle bearings are super simple to replace.I believe companies on Ebay have rebuilt units that provide a rotor pack and remaining rebuild parts. Might be worth looking into.

Out of curiosity, are you looking at third gens in specific? Want something stock? Built? Project?

I might know a guy who might be selling one that is built but needs some work

 

Split between 3rd gen runners and 1st gen tacomas. Prefer to go tacoma route just because it is more familiar to me but 4runner bc it has the space.

Definitely not looking for a big project as I don't have the space to house a project car. looking for my weekend warrior...literally as this most likely will not be my DD.

Define..."some work" for the guy you know! Lol!
