Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Do you have a flash kit from OVtune already? If you don't, you have to wait to purchase VF tuner because it's not available for Tacoma yet.

 

No I do not have anything. hypothetically if it were available, I would need to purchase vtune and anything else...?

I believe that this kit is sold out and production has stopped as OVTune migrates to vF Tune software. In recent posts, OVTune mentioned the possibility of purchasing the vF Tuner software (which will allow you to customize your own tunes) along with purchasing premade "tune packages" which may be similar to the tunes that we received through the Flash Kit.

The details are still being worked out though. We'll have to wait another week or so to be sure.

 

Important instructions regarding vF Tuner orders.
This information will also be emailed to you.

We will be sending out vF Tuner master keys to people who ordered.
The master key is your credentials for using the software.
Your master key will not change even if you install on a different computer.
You should install it on the same computer that you use to flash your tacoma as of right now with the flash kit.

we do not recommend installing vF Tuner until we release support for the tacoma (about a week).
vF Tuner can be downloaded from the front page of our website.










regarding reg keys. that is still handled by our 3rd party dev. So we will get keys out as quickly as possible.

I definitely don't feel as bad about giving up my dongle now. I like not being tied to a single computer, and it sounds like that is how VF will be. It is very much appreciated!

 

I believe the p5Flash software is still tied to a single computer. What is not clear (to me) is whether or not you still use p5Flash to load a tune modified by vFTune.

EDIT: According to the new vF-Tuner thread initial post, the vFTune software will in fact include a flashing utility.

 

Not sure, my impression is that it won't be, but it could also be licensed/activated differently.

 

Does vfTuner have it's own built-in flashing functionality, or will we still use an external program (ie. p5Flash) to flash tune files created/modified with vfTuner?
