Tuning support for the 2019+ will not have any "weird' tuning issues using the vF Tuner.

Thanks - is there any reason why we shouldn’t purchase the VFTuner license now? We can simply update the software when the taco tunes are released on may 1st, right?

You can purchase the vF tuner now. If there's anything we'd like to ask for, it's for everyone's patience and understanding. Yesterday, we uncovered about 2,200 tables/maps for just one (1) ECU. Not all of it will be useful, so we'll trim that down. And then we'll have to keep repeating the process for other ECUs.

    Thank you for your support!

As a BRAND NEW customer (nothing purchased from OVT at all), what are my purchase options?

Option 1) Tunes you create yourself
What do I need to buy for this option?

vF Tuner Software and Tactrix Openport 2.0

    https://www.ovtuned.com/collections/vf/products/vf-tuner-software
    https://www.tactrix.com/index.php?o...=17&vmcchk=1&Itemid=53&redirected=1&Itemid=53

Option 2) Tunes you modify based on OVT tunes
What do I need to buy for this option?

vF Tuner Software, Tacoma 3.5L vF Tune Pack, and Tactrix Openport 2.0

    https://www.ovtuned.com/collections/vf/products/vf-tuner-software
    https://www.ovtuned.com/collections/vf/products/tacoma-3-5l-vf-tune-pack
    https://www.tactrix.com/index.php?o...=17&vmcchk=1&Itemid=53&redirected=1&Itemid=53

Option 3) I don't plan to modify tunes. I just want tunes from OVT that I can upload/flash to my vehicle.

*You can still modify tunes on your own if you want to though.

Option 4) I don't plan to modify tunes. I just want one tune (for a discount, since I am not getting any other tunes) from OVT that I can upload/flash to my vehicle.
What do I need to buy for this option?

We don't have an option for this, as of writing. Will have to talk to Mat about this.
    -----
    Can I use/buy an OBD2 reader-writer OTHER THAN Tactrix'?

You can. But we discourage this since our development centered around being able to use Tactrix, and we're unsure which OTHER OBD2 reader-writer works.
    -----
Can I use/buy a USED but ORIGINAL Tactrix?

Yes, you can buy a USED and ORIGINAL Tactrix.
    -----
As a HANDHELD customer, I don't have any Tactrix. Do I need to buy one in order to use vF Tuner?

Yes, you have to buy a Tactrix Openport 2.0 to use vF Tuner and upload/flash your tunes to your vehicle.
    -----
As a HANDHELD customer, what are my purchase options?

    Option 1) Not purchase anything

Since you are our previous customer. We'll provide you with tunes that was part of your purchase. You won't be able to edit your tune on your own though like the others.

Option 2) Purchase a vF tuner
What do I need for this option?

vF Tuner Software and Tactrix Openport 2.0

    https://www.ovtuned.com/collections/vf/products/vf-tuner-software
    https://www.tactrix.com/index.php?o...=17&vmcchk=1&Itemid=53&redirected=1&Itemid=53

You'll also receive the tune files we sent you so you can open, edit, and upload/flash them to your vehicle using the vF Tuner.
    -----
As a HANDHELD and vF TUNER customer, will I still be able to transfer files I created from the vF Tuner to my handheld so I don't have to always carry my laptop when I want to flash the tunes I myself or OVT created?

Mat will be the one to answer this. Get back to you on it.
    -----
As a FLASH KIT customer, what are my purchase options?

    Option 1) Not purchase anything

Since you are our previous customer. We'll provide you with tunes that was part of your purchase. You won't be able to edit your tune on your own though like the others.

Option 2) Purchase a vF tuner
What do I need for this option?

vF Tuner Software (free for those who trade-in their Dongles or $79 for those with the Flash Kit already)

You'll also receive the tune files we sent you so you can open, edit, and upload/flash them to your vehicle using the vF Tuner.
    -----
As a FLASH KIT and vF TUNER customer, do I still need to use the OVT Flash Manager/Toy Flash?

You don't need to. The vF Tuner software already has the Toyota Flash Tool. Instruction document on how to access the Toyota Flash Tool is sent to you together with the program installation.

All I ask for is bumping up the charging rate (AGM battery) and being able to use the cruise control buttons to bump the idle manually like all the big trucks I drive have. Having a manual, this would be so amazing for wheeling, ughhh

Thank you for making your previous tunes available for purchase. Once I was finally ready to pull the trigger for my truck, they were no longer for sale which I was really bummed out about.

Would this be akin to buying a high end sports car, but since you only want it for a grocery getter, paying the price of a Prius?

I’m sure down the line I’ll have it dynotuned and I’ll make tweaks as well. Back in my BRZ days we used “Open flash table” with programs like RomRaider, etc. It seems to be the same as this. You had off the shelf tunes, with the option to modify and so on

    @Rafael@OVTune

Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought the new VF software and master key would make things more portable? I installed the current VF version, just to look around, and noticed P5F is still being used for flashing. I'm an OG dongle user and was going to send it back today. I was hoping moving to VF would make it so we don't need a dongle or reg key.

Also, A long while back Mat mentioned possibly being able to get upgraded to P5F and get a reg key without sending back dongles. Is that no longer an option?

After re-reading your post above, it sounds like the only way a current customer can get editable files is to pay the $199 for Vf Tune, now? Again, maybe I read wrong, but I thought current customers were going to be able to get editable tunes. If not for free, then for the discounted $79 price.

    @Rafael@OVTune

Just to clarify,if I am current flash kit owner I have two options...

#1 I can upgrade/trade in my dongle for free and get the tune pack of completed OVTune files and no ability to edit those for tip in,shift points ect.

#2 Purchase the vfTune and get the tune pack of completed OVTune files with editing capability on those files.

Yes, I know. I have all of the relevant posts saved so I can try to decipher what is going on. He also said this the same day:

I'm just trying to figure out *Exactly* what I need to do to get editable tunes. If $79 only gets me 2 tunes for a particular ECM, and $199 gets me all of them, what's the better deal here? (rhetorical)

    EDIT*

And just to add this on 4/22 which says the tune packs will be editable.

I think we are both tying to figure out the same thing. I know Mat has said Flash kit owners will be able to get the full "Tune Pack" of previous tunes for their ecu he did not say if they would be editable or not. Rafeal says that if you purchase the vfTune instead of the free upgrade you will get editable tune files..

    Waiting on clarification...

That seems pretty clear that we should get the tune pack that is editable included with the free upgrade.

Yes, kinda. It's pretty clear that we should get one or two tunes, or the whole group of (whatever is still available) for your ECU version.

Originally we were going to do 2 per flash kit owner but a user here had a better idea, to create tune packs which have all of a version for that ECU.

For example a 04B13 tune pack could be all versions of 04B13 2.0 files,
    Editable in vF.
Flash kit owners will get 1 tune pack free with their purchase of vF. ($79 or $0 if trading a dongle)

New customers need vF + tune pack purchase if they want to have our tunes to edit.

For current owners, that trade in or upgrade ($0 or $79), is the tune pack editable?
