I’d be lying if I said that the thought hadn’t crossed my mind at times

But there is an awful lot of nostalgia with it for me, and since I don’t need to sell it for truck parts I’d rather keep it and turn it into a sweet little crawler someday. I know Jeeps get nothing but hate and derision on here (with some justification), but I’m cool with that. I know mine isn’t the typical douchebro Jeep, and I’m at least slightly less douchey than most Jeep owners :D

    Thanks, Jake!

Is the CJ-7 the one that is still around? They’re both pretty kickass!

I don't mind Jeeps but they have to be 99 or older haha. Those are pretty sick looking

I like the TJs as well. They were the last ones to run the 4.0L, weren’t they?

Well I didn't know the last cutoff of them so I just assume anything after 2000 sucks. It's easier for me haha

They were, pretty sure Jeep killed off the inline 6 because it wasn't very easy to modify to meet modern emissions standards

Yeah, the new V6 is pretty underwhelming based on the few times I’ve driven my dad's newer Jeep.

My 71 has ZERO emissions gear and never has as far as I know. The current incarnation with with my little Buick 231 V6 has headers dumping straight into little Flownasty mufflers and then dumping straight out to the side :p

It’s different, but I do like it :D

I’m currently reading up on the Dana 44. I want to replace the front D27 and the narrow 44 in the back.

I kinda want to swap the shittastic T-14 3-speed for a basic TH350 and a mild shift kit too. Just need an adapter from Novak so I can keep the D18 transfer case.

Got seven of my eight jack stands off of the floor and made use of this awkward corner in the shop. Also managed to fit in my shop stool so it’s not taking up floor space either.

You sure you don't want to swap to a Dana 300 with a 4:1 kit?

The 300 is a great case, for sure, especially with the 4.1s.

It really depends on how crazy I want to go with it. I just need to read up a lot more on what will fit, which drives everything on these early CJ5s. The short wheelbase is one of my favorite things about it, but it makes it tough to keep the drivelines and other stuff happy.

I may just rebuild the D18 with 3.15 gears, add the overdrive back, swap the front to a D30 with disc brakes, and wheel it as is...

    Do it!

With the door from outside right there it made that corner completely useless. It’s so much better now and getting back the floor space was really nice.

Yep. I'm stealing this. Just in time as well. My dad and I are going to be ripping apart his garage pretty soon and reorganizing it.
