How are you gonna mount the shock hoop to the frame - stand-off tube? If you need some 1.75 1/4 wall I have a bunch with a tube notcher if you'd like to use it for them.

Man that is super cool of you! Thank you. I should be good though- The guy who bent my hoops gave me a straight of 1.75 DOM- so I should be. I've always sucked at notching though... I'll be running them off the frame as you described with a small stand off.

Totally not looking forward to spending hours cycling the leaf pack for the shocks and the bumps...

Tundra axle and other shackle should FOR SURE be good to do next Saturday. If that is the case, then leaf pack cycling on Sunday and mounting the shocks up!!!!!

Okay--after a lot of thinking, here is a photo for reference of how I'll do my bed cage. The only difference is that it'll be tighter with the bed and the shock will be on the outside.

You can see how the double sheer shock mount setup will be as well in both photos. Purple buggy for more detail.

    No more shock hoops?

Decided full / low profile bed cage?

This is about where your shocks should end up:

Is the purple buggy a sand rail?

Wish I could say for sure, but I would assume so judging by the tail. My friend had sent me that tossing some ideas out there in efforts to keep everything as stiff as possible.

Are yours inboard or outboard of the frame? I will be running the hoops, but instead of mounting them off of tube ends they'll be welded directly on top of the frame to eliminate flex and the shock will be mounted directly to the side of the hoop, hence the double sheer setup.

You might see where this build is going further down the road years to come....haha!!!!

This was taken from @Anthony250 's truck with shocks outside of the frame.

He put a cross member between the towers later:

When asking him about optimal angle for shocks I think he said 10-15* at full bump - not sure if that applies to soa as well, but I would think the shock will roughly perform the same in your case.

Total Chaos coil bucket gussets as well as alignment cam tab gussets are on their way for the front end.

Luke, I know you have a pretty well built front end. You have any further suggestions on reinforcement on the front end?

I was thinking about a simple brace over the engine that bolted to the top of both coil buckets to help with rigidity.

a removable cross brace/engine cage is obviously an ideal route but other little things you can get from TC like spindle gussets, shock tower gussets, cam tab gussets, stuff like that.

Looks like I'll be pretty set then! I am assuming I'll have to make the cross brace myself then as I haven't seen any advertised before.

correct. That’s a custom fabrication type of thing. That’s a slippery slope though. Once you start cutting shit up and building your engine cage, before you know it you’ll go through the firewall into the cab. :D

Said $160 welded and $100 unwelded in the thread - plus shipping and maybe a little more from the price of steel going up recently and inflation since the group buy.
