GoPro Mount

I don't personally use the GoPro Mount in my Pro but was curious to know if anyone out there in TW does. I've never come across any post about it or videos uploaded.

 

I mounted a Garmin Dash Cam to mine.

 

I use it and it's saved me a couple times. Guy in front of me was pulling out a driveway and a bicyclist hit him. Person laid on the ground saying he couldn't feel his legs that he was run over. Cops, fire and ambulance came. I showed them the video and they laughed. Cyclist got up, refused service and rode away. Guy cut me off in traffic. I honked. He slams on his brakes and jumps out wanting to duke it out. I laughed, pointed at the camera. He flipped me off and drove away. So yeah, it helps. I also use it on my motorcycle.

Same here, I use it for my dashcam mount.

 

My dashcam is mounted to mine also.

 

I hang this guy on the gopro mount. It's been hung in all my cars since my first car. It's a finger puppet.

I found a dude a while back who 3D prints mounts for a Rexing dash cam. It's perfect.

(I can't remember where I got it from so can't provide contact/site info, sorry)

 

My 2017 has one of those mounts and I figured the previous owner put it there. Is this an option for Tacomas ? I could definitely use a camera when I'm travelling for insurance purposes.

 

Buddha Bob has been riding shotgun with me for 17 years. He originally mounted up with me in my patrol cars. Then when I changed careers, he moved over to my POV.

 

I’ve seen people use the go-pro mount for radar detectors.

It is standard for 2016-2018 and was removed after the 2019 model year for cost savings

 

Score. My 14 year old heard me talking about this post and he handed me his go pro camera that he doesnt use anymore. Guess I've got myself an in truck camera now.

 

Nice! You should install a power line up there that turns on when the truck is started. I used this write up to do it, relatively simple mod and clean if you do it this way.

I modified the Mount the came with my Rexing dash cam to fit the gopro mount perfectly. No 3D printed mount required.

 

Wouldn’t it be much simpler and nicer to just get one of these?

I suppose that would also work, yes. Nicer is subjective, the way I ran the cable you can't hardly see it, not sure if it would be just as easy to hide the dongle hanging off the mirror, but I suppose not impossible.
