4 - seriously? You use your foot to regulate power output/boost. less throttle= less boost. It is not supercharged.

Per your question 1. I too have heard this.. mostly when following 2JZ NA-T projects where they lower compression from 8.5:1 by adding a spacer head gasket. But that was quite a while ago when I followed those projects.

Ford's boosted trucks are now up to 10.5 compression. Apparently Mat has done a bunch of testing with use/abuse and his engine has held up. I think it remains to be seen what longevity impact of 5-10 lbs boost will have on our motors. I'm guessing you're asking for the guys that're gonna try running 20 lbs of boost and flogging their rides.. I think only time will tell how that's gonna work out.

Per your statement 4. It sounds like you may want to go with the PowerMax solution as Mat's charts display boost coming on later than the base kit. I'm hoping to see a MPG increase while towing as the long legs of my AT don't have enough torque for inclines in higher gears.

High compression and boost is really only a problem at low RPM and questionable octane.
It can cause LSPI, pre ignition.

However this engine has a way to dynamically reduce total compression.
    VVT.
Closing the intake valves before peak advance (the opposite of what you want N/A for power) will reduce the total boost inside the chamber.

This is how we can tune the skyactiv on 15psi and pump gas, and it has a compression ratio of 13:1.

Compression ratio is just a number. Ignition is what is the maker and breaker.

    OVT,

Any pics of the catless downpipes? Any thoughts on having some aftermarket hi flow cats welded into downpipes?

I know you eventually plan on offering a catted downpipe option with the TT kit but I assume not for the first batch.

    THanks.

Well, I've had the first window to tinker on the taco.
Hopefully anyone else that wants to run this setup can benefit from this research:D

Test fitting the drivers side OEM airbox. So far everything is fitting very well. Just need to run some heavy AWG and relocate the battery to the pass side. Does not interfere with factory fuse panel.

90 ° off the original intake output should put me right down to the drivers turbo inlet. I feel much more comfortable using a OEM air filter, along with the air box which has a water drain at the bottom. shout out to @Schwartz !! for the air box hookup
    [IMG]

Next is the FMIC. Props to @Turd Hawg for the gorund work on sourcing the size. It's a Treadstone TR1035. Beefy core and should be plenty.

    First mock up.

As you can see, I have a winch and a LB fab bumper. I wanted it ~2" above for clearance and everything is fitting perfectly.

Removed the little plastic side wind directors. I might be able to keep them but not a priority right now.

90° Off each end clears the headlight mounts(I did not want to alter them, as my grill locks into that)
Just need to pop a hole in the radiator support wall.

Pic of how high my winch sits
    [IMG]

NO modification to my grill. Fits right around the FMIC PERFECT.
Even able to retain my 4 HELLA horns
    [IMG]'

Although, I did have to drop my trans cooler a little lower.

And the look we are all going for!

I wonder if 1" flat strap "x", welded flat would beef up the area around the hole through the radiator support. I know that's a weak area of the truck when wheeling.

Is there any concern here with how much of the stock radiator is blocked?

Wondering about your statement about "weak area of truck when wheeling". Haven't heard anything regarding the front engine bay wall/radiator support wall being damaged when wheeling but curious to hear more since I'm considering cutting two 4" holes through the wall. Just trying to learn more before I go cutting...
