It is the Toyota proprietary you-need-to-slow-it-down-off-pavement warning system. All the Gen2s have this warning system standard. To which I say, Hell No!

The onset actually starts in the supports behind the headlights and in the fenders and gradually works its way up to the upper support.

Don't replace, fabricate. If you replace with the same thing, it will crack again. Find a qualified shop to fabricate you a new one like Dirt Designs did for @sytfu510

Does sound like he best long-term solution. Also sounds a little bit pricey.

Quick fix I did while I was doing some other mods. Eventually will be remaking entire thing from square tube.

I do not know an easy fix but was aware of the issue when I bought mine. The OEM battery is one heavy beast, esp. on those with the tow pkg. and is one of the contributing cause as I understand the matter. I made a support for under the battery and fender portion with and bracket affair that ties to the frame.

Frame flex is the primary cause IMO.

Not sure what their problems are.
In my case with a DCLB, a long frame with a flexible center section but rigid front and rear sections cause some crazy body twist. The core support goes with the frame, but the inner fenders move with the cab. Hence the cracking at the weakest areas of the core support

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
Best way to fix it is to pretend it's not there. I've been living with the "if I don't look at it or think about it, it's not there" fix for about five years now. Problem now is, my driver's side fender well is sitting on my UCA bushing.....has been for so long it's now got got a nice bushing-shaped notch.

So now that y'all found the common sheet metal tears...

Those with a DCLB, pull down the weatherstripping around the driver's side rear door frame at the upper rear corner. Betcha didn't know you had that one, too.

Out of curiosity, how much did that fabricated front end set you back, @Wishbone Runner ?
