Bought a Y spare tire strap this morning. I'm going to copy @singletrack_ftw set up, though rather than use a jackstand/jack combo I'm just going to use a jack stand. After shopping around I found this company which makes their product in the good ol USA. The 'rona has me buying American now when I can. I know this isn't the most space efficient way to carry the spare, but it'll allow me to see out the back window, and dammit it looks cool.

That jack has become quite popular with the off-road crowd.

Yeah. I have one and it's actually quite nice to have. I stumbled across them on Amazon a bunch of years ago and couldn't argue with the price and features.

I just looked at the lift height and damn, color me impressed. 21" which is more than some floor jacks.

Yup. I've had to use mine on the trail twice and once at home and I'm glad I got it. It's nice and stable and quick to use.

I think I will get one. I'd never looked at the lift height to be honest but this would be perfect for changing a flat or working on something on the front end. Hi lift will still have its place but this will help takeover some of that.

I agree, it looks damn good. I keep debating on doing it. Also considering a tool box and just leaving the spare flat in the bed with y-strap. I wonder how this technique would look just past the tool box?
Can you put up the link? I get paranoid I'll order the wrong one.

Yeah I don’t really know about that combo, I imagine it’s not very common. I’m not sure how I feel about it.

I’m thinking I’ll just stick with a basic jack stand since I already have some laying around. Or get fancy and get an aluminum harbor freight jack and mount it behind the tire. Some people modify them to make a budget pro eagle
