Hi, I inquired at my dealer how much the 2020 led headlights on the pro were as I was thinking putting them on my 2020 sport. The dealer told me that they won't fit because the wiring is totally different. Is that really the case? Just curious.

Yes it requires an aftermarket harness to work, they are also $1200 for the set as opposed to a $485 option from the factory.

Not if you believe what this Toyota dealer has to say.....read their ebay ad in this link.....

They are wrong, there is a whole mega thread about this, the wiring / harness is different from a non LED 2020 factory spec'd truck and an LED factory spec'd. Its not a direct swap / plug and play.

They told me they made the swap several times, no issues, and stock harness in the SR5 - so who is correct, the Toyota dealer or Tacoma World ??

Really dude, read the mega thread, I'll bet you my truck you can't just swap them, you need the harness. JFC, yes dealers are wrong all the time. Real helpful by the way, let's give OP the wrong info, so he spends $1200 on headlights that he can't use without the aftermarket harness, etc.

Its not as easy as just swapping the headlight assembly. I inquired with a dealer how much it would be to have the truck I was going to buy be upgraded to the $495 LED headlamp option and was quoted $3000. That would have included LED headlamp assemblies, wiring, hardware and LED fog lights.

You need a harness (a member sells them on here for about $80 if memory serves) and it's about $1500 for both headlights depending on where you buy them from

Where is the cheapest place to buy the OEM headlights from? The cheapest I'm finding now is $750 each but I hear people getting a pair for $1200

If you click the item description on those dealer lights, you see this “COMPATIBILITY: THIS DOSE NOT COME WITH HARNESS OTHER VENDERS SELL HARNESS IF NEEDED. FOR SR and SR5 owners who have non-led DRL there is not yet a Harness to convert these headlights to fit”. So yes, you’ll still need a harness. Hit up @daveeasa Also, if you have an SR, hit me up :D

I believe sparks parts is the go-to when the Toyota parts sites aren’t running holiday sales

Did this on our 2020 TRD OR using @daveeasa's wiring harness. Works perfectly.

I just kept an eye on craigslist, FBMP and such and eventually a pair turned up for a good price. More here:
