What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Awesome post! FYI you can get good quality circuit breakers from Speedway Motors for about half that price.

 

Yesterday I was diagnosing inoperative power side steps. I noticed all of the factory grounds under the hood of the F250 had been removed, sanded, and reinstalled. I thought that was odd and then I found out that the ground I had installed had 2.46 ohms of resistance. Very odd and no bueno. I traced the problem to a very beefy and quality looking bad ground cable on the battery.

 

Cool man. Figured you had at least thought about that possibility. Either way props for going out on a limb and hacking your truck!

 

I put mine on about 2 years ago. It fits great and is what i would consider high quality- no issues whatsoever. However it was before there were 50 companies out there making them and if i remember correctly it was around 300$

 

I was thinking the same thing, but they dont attach to the surround the same

Ive been running an AGM for a few months now and never seemed to have a issue with keeping it topped off. I have seen the posts contradicting themselves about needing a volt booster but haven't seen this NOCO. think these are absolutely necessary? I drive my truck every day and it rarely sits for more then 24hrs.

 

Here's some anecdotal evidence for you. I have a 27F AGM battery. No booster or NOCO charger. Had it over a year now, winching, lights, and fridge on it. Still is kick ass. My truck has mostly sat for the last 6-7 weeks. I'd start it, pull it out in the driveway and shut it off. Start it up and drive it back into the garage. Did this like once or twice a week. What I'm getting at is it had a bunch of starts but no recharge and it still never wavered. So take that FWIW.

 

Hows the 650 ride compared to 700?
I'm about to do the same but with Bilstein 6112.

 

I only went on a short drive but it seemed softer (as you'd expect). More body roll too.

 

I currently have 700lb on 6112 shocks at Max 6th notch height setting, no aftermkt weight in the front. Been like this for over a yr & half. Recently added slider. So you know the ride is not so great but lift looks good and healthy LOL
Ordered the Bilstein 650# coils and gonna drop the lift setting to 5th notch on the Bilstein 6112. From others, it should clear 33s, (CMC is done. Hoping for a more livable ride.

 

ooof, that sounds like a very rough ride. Should be a nice difference dropping in weight.

 

I wasn't sure so I thought it'd be safer to go with 700lb just incase I might add weight but now the plans have changed. Not looking to spend any more money on the Taco. For now just gonna make the ride enjoyable until moving to Tundra few years from now due to more room for the fam + V8. At least that's the current plan.

 

you mean a turbo 6 hybrid is in your future

 

It is a FACT... BAD GROUND(S) will ruin your day, sooner or later it will.

 

Go here, and read, read, read, and read. Read the whole thread and you will see why, @crashnburn80 did a hell of a job researching this subject and has a lot of great critical information. NOTHING is absolutely necessary, hell, you can just call it a day and keep it all stock. All this info and treads are just to educate us to have better understanding of our trucks.

Thank you. This is what I have been experiencing also. I have checked it after a day of driving and sitting all weekend and didn't seem to have any drop more then normal.

 

Guys, the battery may not suffer, but the lifespan sure as heck will. Sulfating an AGM battery is a very thing you can do without the appropriate input voltage when it's "charging". It doesn't hurt to discharge a battery multiple times before an appropriate charging cycle, it DOES hurt to charge slower than expected when it's finally available.

 

Have you checked your resting voltage with a meter?? Is going to be too late when you don't have the juice needed to start your truck...
