285 with -12 mm offset?

Is 285 with -12 offset wheels a good combo on the Tacoma? I don't want to be much outside of the fenders... Any one have any pics of this?

If you are planning 33s 285/75/16 or 285/70/17 and don’t want rub throughout the whole suspension travel then 0 to -8 offset.

 

What size wheels?

That is a tire size. So we can assume that you are looking at 17" wheels, but what width? Use this site for a visual -

 

I have 2” lift, 285/70/17 , 17x8or9 -12 off set and 4.5 back spacing. I had to do a cmc and pinch weld modifications. Stick out 1-1.5”

Hot damn that looks good, what'd you have to do to fit? CMC, but anything on the pinch weld?

This will give you a comparison to your current OEM setup.

 

Nothing much, just a little bit of plastic trimming, both at the bumper and near the rocker panel. No cab mount chop and no pinch weld hammering. My lift settled to 2.25in up front and I'm on stock UCA's. Alignment is near perfect.

 

No longer own the truck. Just sold it.... but..


Here’s like week 2 of owning it... I went with 295/70/17..

With 17x9.5 -12 offset

 

285/70/17, -12 offset and 4.5 backspacing.
2.25” lift. No CMC. Only had to trim some plastic on the front. I have Adjustable SPC UCAs. It helped to push the tire forward enough to not have to cut anything in the back fender.
Cutting the frame isn’t necessary unless you want to save some money and don’t care about your cab mounts or resale value if anybody notices the chopping and welding.
