    Do you change oil?
    Trans?
    transfer case?
    differentials?
I am new to Toyota but I cringe going 10,000 mi on an oil change.
I do not tow but use the vehicle all fall winter and spring on/off road. Fields and lanes mostly.
I thought I would ask here. Thanks

    Depending on what I did.
    Towed a lot/ran it hard/used 4x4 a lot:
    5k engine oil/filter
    50k diff/transfer

    if I didn’t do much:
    10k engine oil/filter
    65k diff/transfer

If you are really worried about it, send the old oil to get it analyzed. It’s like 30-40 bucks. I do it when I just bought a used vehicle to determine if I should do a flush.

    This is a nice reference

    newbie here too
I did oil at 2K because I'm home, bored and wanted to learn.
Going to do every 5K or 6months going forward. Maybe unnecessary, but I feel better about it.
Oil was very black at 2K, haven't found a source proving it's synthetic from the factory (if you have info, lmk).
If they put 1 ounce paper speakers in the truck, then I doubt they use synthetic.

Zeke The 4 wheel drive gets used 7 months pretty hard, but no towing.
I am thinking about your 1st schedule. 5/50
Actually as few miles I usually put on a vehicle I may have to use the time schedule (6 months oil change).

For me 10,000 miles may not happen in 1 years time! Hey I'm old and retired! LOL. Don't put a lot of miles on a vehicle except for fall/winter/spring months.

Fellas, what is the exact OEM oil for these trucks? I know it’s 0w-20, but what brand?

Toyota would have filled with an oil blended to their specs at final assembly. So basically, Toyota brand synthetic.

Dealers will use what they buy in bulk. Folks say that they have seen Mobil1 drums.

Any 0w-20 synthetic with the API label will do you just fine.

I MAY get 5K. I may use that as my interval for changes. 6 mos or 5K.

If I were still working and driving a lot of interstate miles, I would say yeah go 10K on oil. Now since I have long ago I retired, drive short drives, in and out of fields along creeks and ditches (haven't needed 4 WD yet which is impressive about this truck) stop and go and stop and go. I kinda feel 5K may be right for my driving. Call it old school I guess.

Like my previous suggestion; since you are doing a mix of things, get it analyzed. I would suggest going to 5k. At the end of the 5k, send your old oil to get analyze. Even if it's a new vehicle, an oil analyzation will show how oxidated the oil gets and how much contaminants it has. Which means it'll tell you the life of the oil. If not a lot of oxidation, push it 7k and check again. Until you are comfortable at where it's at.

Most companies will also have comments on the side of the results telling you what the technicians think those results mean.
Besides, getting oil analyzed for $30-40 at the beginning gives you a baseline on where everything should be. After that, just get done every 3-5 years and it'll give you a prediction of where those contaminants are coming from so you know where the failures may occur. That's because everything in your engine is not made of the same material. This is how we do it on military aircraft as well.
