    Each year and transmission has multiplesmultiple andeand codes if you will. When you find yours out, you use vftuner credits to unlock the ecu code that matches your specific vehicle.
    This way your access is limited so that you can't go around and flash tune all your friends and friend's friends friend's Tacomas, tundras, lexus' for them without paying ovtune more money for unlocking credits.

    Okay, so my issue is, [I have a 2016 AT Tacoma] I have not gotten a TSB update from my dealership. Im currently on 04B01 and I was told that I can still use the vF with 04B01 but (in OVTune's wording) it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED anyone running an older ECU needs to go to a dealership and update the TSB. Wish they would tell me the risks and why (sorry my knowledge on this is not the best so I am probably not using the right terminology.)

    MY POINT IS should I click yes then? I should be good right? I dont want to waste these credits. My tune that should emailed this weekend (its about to be Monday lol) will be 04B01 right? Im sure a LOT of people are thinking the same thing.

    No way. Don't waste your credits.

    Download TS and flash the TSB yourself. You got the most important part already, the Tactrix.

    Once you unlock your ECU ID, then you can open and play with as many files for your specific ECU ID as you want. But it’s limited to your ECU ID and your truck, so you can’t go and tune somebody else’s truck unless you buy more credits to unlock another ecu

    It is really close to an OVT flash. You just want to be a bit more careful. Mainly that the truck battery is solid and the computer is running well and stable.

    Then, you can hammer the customizations if you like.

    Okay so i am all downloaded and set up but need the CUW file for my truck. where can i find it and what do i need? i currently have 04B01 (2016 AT)

    The CUWs for ATs are attached to Post 184 of that thread.

    I believe the numerically smaller filename is for the 2016s and 2017s. The other is for 2018s. The nice part here is that it is foolproof. It won't flash is you start with the wrong file. It will just say the the wrong one is incompatible.

    When you using your credits you use it to unlock access to your ECU version.
    You can open as many or make as many files of that ECU version as you want.

    Yeah i know that now. Now it brings the questions should i update my ECU to something newer like you are suggesting. Im currently on 04B01 and already sent you guys an email a few days back with my calibration file (which is 04B01) and do NOT want to go back to the bottom of the list to get my long awaited tune.

    You should use Techstream to update to the most-recent version (04B04).
