    All good advice above me.

Also wanted to add a little trouble the shop ran into while installing my OME lift:

You’ll see in the picture, where my finger is pointing, the head of the bolt that holds the back of the UCA in place. Before the install that bolt head was over on the right hand side, and there isn’t enough room there to remove the bolt — it had to be cut. They ordered two new bolts from Toyota which delayed them completing the job for a day or two.

They put the bolt heads on the other side, so that in the future, should I choose to change anything or need to replace something, those bolts can be removed then reused.

It’s worth looking up in your front wheel-wells to see if you’re going to run into the same issue.

I’m sure that someone who installed their own lift will chime in and answer.

I'm running position E right now. It was in C when I got the truck and it would dart back and forth on the highway, it was really twitchy. I moved it to D and it felt quite a bit better but my 305/65/17 tires were rubbing more than I wanted. So I tried E and it rides so much better and I get a little rub at full lock. I would start with D or E but you may need to play with your toe as you move the tire. I kept tweaking the toe until I liked the way it drives. I never bothered to get an alignment since I figured there is no true settings for a lifted truck for the shop to go by. I'm keeping an eye on the tires to see if there is any abnormal wear.

REALLY good advice. I was getting ready to do my install this weekend and called an alignment shop to schedule an appointment, with the intention of doing my LCA’s next year. I’m glad I called before I started. All 3 shops I called refused to align my truck once I told them it was from Vermont. After many many many many hours here, and researching the internet, I completely understood why they refused. My adjustment hardware is completely rusted. I’ve spent the last couple weeks accruing everything I need for the front end to do it all in one shot. I’m going to be cutting out my upper and lower control arm bolts and putting in aftermarket UCA’s and a set of used LCA’s I acquired here in TW, with new ball joints and OEM bushings. I’m going to split it up over 2 weekends. The front on a Sunday, so I can take it to the alignment shop first thing Monday, then the rear end the following Saturday. Hopefully after the alignment, new Dakars in the back won’t mess with the new alignment. I’ve gotten all my stuff like new or new from here or eBay. If you’re patient, you can score some good deals. I’m putting Headstrong coils, with 5100’s set to zero up front, and medium Dakars with extended length 5100’s in the back.

You can "manipulate" the metal enough to get the UCA bolts out and back in without cutting them. Did it on the 05 and will be doing it again, this time on the 08. I did the +1 degree of caster position on the ball joints and had no issues. Will be going with that again this time.

Could I get a consensus from 2.7L RC owners? Lean spacer or no lean spacer? Currently on stock suspension with no lean. This upcoming weekend I'm installing Headstrong 2" coils with 5100's set to zero, freedom offroad UCA's and new (to me) stock LCA's. I'm trying to avoid having to do multiple alignments if I don't put it in and it leans, and will it negatively affect anything if I just go ahead and put it in to be proactive. Same question for 3* shims. I have them and was going to put them in when I install my dakars the following weekend. Thanks all!

I don't have one, and I never could really see a lean on my truck. Maybe it affects the V6 models more, or maybe I just don't see it.

No lean with the RC but I do have shims for my rear with the add-a-leaf so you want to use the shims. If you put the front together without the spacer and notice a lean, it's not that hard to add the spacer since it goes on top of the tophat and there should be enough threads on the bolts. A 1/4" spacer should give 3/8" to 1/2" of lift so it might be too much anyway. If you don't have the lean with worn stock coils, you shouldn't have the lean with new coils. With a driver in the truck and a full tank of gas it will probably have some lean because of the extra weight on that side.

No spacer here either. Can’t remember if my Alcan spring packs had integrated shims. Put them in there.

Looks great, what all did you have to trim? I know some RC guys have gotten away with the stock steelies and 285s with minimal rubbing at full lock or flex.

Thanks!! So far cab mount, pinch weld, and a bit of the fenders. Already removed all the front with the bumper install. I need to trim more of the fenders near the cab mount. I think I'm having issues because of the spacers I was told I needed to fit these. Going to try and see if I really need them as it looks like they might clear without them.

Would people mind posting pics of their single cab wheels? aftermarket, steelies, painted steelies, I don't care. My stock wheels need to go either way because they're rusted enough I'd rather get new wheels with my next set of tires in the next 10K miles or so. I'm leaning towards just buying some used steelies on CL and painting them, however if I see something aftermarket that catches my eye, I may go that route. Definitely sticking with 16 inch rims, and like the 265/75/16 size tires I have now. Thanks ahead of time for any ideas!

Looks good! If you ever want to sell that shell, let me know. Regular cab shells are hard to find and even harder in black.

Tell me about it. I painted it myself, and it came out ok. There’s a RC shell for sale now in the buy/sell section in PA for $250. Those freakin things are like unicorns man.
