got tool box finally, now how to mount?

So i picked up my UWS low pro today. I ordered it from the cheapest place i could find which was LINE X. I wanted a black box but they called UWS and they were out of black boxs at the time for my yota. the black UWS low pro box was $285. So since the black paint chips over time and it would be a week or two intil they could get one in the guy cut me a deal. he ordered me the silver UWS low pro and LINE X'd the box for $285. Picked it up this afternoon and counldnt be happier.

NOW THE DELIMA, it came with J hooks, so we drilled a hole on each side of the box to mount. WELL, i didnt realize the J hooks wouldnt work after i drilled because of the Bed Rail system on the yota. SO, how did yal mount yal's boxes? i dont wanna drill into the bed rail itself so self tapping screws are out of the question.

 

Just take a long j-hook and hook it to the underside of the rail system. The rail system is stout and the toolbox isn't going anywhere, as I have mine mounted like that. Works perfectly. Tighten it down with a lock washer and a wingnut.

 

I mounted my uws box with supplied j-hooks by utilizing the holes in the bed rail system that allows you to take out the bed rail hooks. Works perfectly.

 

Great Price with line-xed!!! Line-x of Fort Worth wants $419 for it, just the black box but found one at another truck store for $329. I think i am gonna take it!

 

I did the same thing, with a few self-tappers to ensure it stayed in place after the nylocks worked loose a few times going down the road.

 

You can get some toolbox clamps from Lowe's that hook up directly to your factory clamps in your bed rails! I think they are around $20 and they work great! If you need anymore info about them or pics let me know!

 

FYI for those looking for the same box, don't settle for more. I Just called another store, $319 with installation. I asked for a fair price, not low-calling at all. The lowest price i can find online is $313 plus $56 shipping. I think one easily find this box locally for much less, around $300 range.

 

Do some measuring and drill hole for the j-bolt so the j-bolt will hook the bedrail close to one of the mounting screws for the bed rail. Stronger that way.

 

You could drill a hole on you bed rail for the J-hook.

 

pics would be great buddy, to every1 else, i took the supplied j hooks today and grinded the j part down shorter to fit inside the rail system, so ill see how long they stay there. Yes i would of drilled the holes to fit inside those spaces where the j hook would of caught into, but the guy at line x just hoped in and drilled a hole in the center of each side before determining the j hooks wouldnt fit in the rail system. So i didnt wanna drill more holes in the box and leave open holes. so for now i made the j part of the hook shorter. so we will see how long they keep the box down.

but again loaderman pics would be nice as i am leaning towards going to lowes and gettin box clamps

Hey DMB summed it all up on that install! But here are a few pics up underneath after it is all done. They seem to be real sturdy and works great! The only thing I did different, I used the bolt that was originally in the cleat. Seemed pretty easy to me and you wouldn't have to do all the stuff with the wrench, but whatever looks good to you!

Do you think the clamp set up from Lowes would work on a UWS box or is it just for the Kobalt boxes? Great info by the way

 

Clamps should work with any toolbox. The clamps just provide a place to bolt the box to the bed. I probably would have gotten a UWS box but couldn't pass up the deal on the box I got.

 

thanks dmb for the install info, i got everything from lowes today so hopefully this weekend it will come together. i love my UWS in my dodge so i kept lookin for another and i couldnt pass up the deal on the box and getting it line X'd for a total of $300 for everything so im happy as can be
