You are correct sir. However it’s my understanding that it doesn’t run on port injection long enough to keep the carbon from building up on the back side of the valves. Again I’m not 100% positive. But I know on my 2016 taco when I reached 30K they ( they being the dealership) did what they call a “ top end cleaning”. That was to remove the carbon build up on the valves.

Hmm... I dunno. I can verify carbon build-up on direct injection, as I had the back of my valves cleaned twice for my old GTI. I found an article w/ quotes from the engineer that designed the 3rd gen that says the port injection cycle can last from 10 seconds to 10 minutes depending (link to article - https://www.wardsauto.com/technology/toyota-advances-d4s-self-cleaning-feature-tacoma). Maybe in reality, there's still some carbon build-up? Maybe someone else might know.

I got a Dobinsons 2” lift kit installed. It ended up being about 2.5” but I’m told it will settle down to 2”. I decided on red coils with black struts/shocks to match the wheels.

Older mods: TRD Pro wheels, Cooper STT Pro 265/70/17, actual TRD Pro grill, 10 coat plastidipped badges, Bakflip MX4 Tonneau cover, TRD OR OEM skid plate, and 3M tint to match the rear.

Getting rid of more chrome today, got the door handles and vent rings left to do. Also finished tweaking a beveled version of the little letters for the glove box and put em up on thingiverse if anyone has a printer. Got someone’s old chrome rings that I am going to paint match to the OEM climate rings which is what I am painting everything else to already. Found out the 2020 cup surround is actually a bit lighter than the climate rings. Toyota really didn’t want anything to match in this truck with all the gray shades. Gonna have to find someone’s old cup surround and paint it too.

Shakedown run with new Tenkosha P3, and RVS wired rear view camera (with a 5 inch monitor). The monitor is mounted on a diy cupholder stand using the adhesive base it came with. The monitor will be removed between trips and I decided that a heavy duty cable tie was the way to secure the AV plug to the rear instead of drilling the bumper.

The same reason I'm going to install one. There are a few videos of people going up steep hills and it pushing oil into the intake. White exhaust smoke and the rest is history....

I am 46k miles and they told me to pound sand. They won’t just give you the light. Just let them do it. Not hard, but mine won’t be covered if it leaks again. Just get yours to leak ;)
