Yep, that has more or less been my experience and I've never dug in properly as currently it's a non issue for me.

Drilling metal and notching tubes the last 4 days has been painful. I am burning up holesaws. My 1960's Delta Rockler press should handle it all well based on HP and build strength, but RPMs are too high. I said "screw this, i am buying a modern drill press" and started to price one with the features I needed. Unless I go with crap from harbor freight buying new was way too much $$$$. So I purchased the following off ebay...
51:1 gear reducer should give me rpm of 15 to 1
    51 to 1 ratio.jpg
    Upgrading to a bigger HP
    new motor.jpg
Got this switch to allow use of 240v rather than the 110v on my existing setup and it will do reverse
    switch.jpg
Toyed with using a modern switch like this
    should use this switch.jpg
but this was the original switch she had when made in the 1960s and given there is not a romantic urge in my body outside of the topic of old trucks, old sailboats, and old powertools.... I foolishly paid extra
    original switch.jpg
Now I need to build a better pipe vise system or invest in a true notching jig. I would love to hear peoples feelings on good but affordable tube notching jigs.

I don’t know if @JasonLee has any first hand experience if they work or not but he is very knowledgeable about this crap and led me to the site.
I have two of them. Maybe when I do my intake cleaning maintenance here in a week or so I’ll swap one of them on and see what happens.

    Hopefully the truck doesn’t explode.

pretty sure that @Deathbysnusnu did this too. I think you can just change the spedo gear in the dash. won't affect the Odometer or anything but it'll correct your gauge.

The late 2002-end of 2004 Tacomas that came with the iECTS partial electronic throttle body were the 4-pin sensors.
I heard mixed reviews on the part from Advanced Auto Parts...
There's a lot of good info in this thread here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/throttle-position-sensor-89452-35030.566731/

From my research on a 5-speed swap ECUs, it looks like 2002's that were built on/after September (sticker on door shows this), it may have the iECTS...

Speedo gear is in the end of the transfer case. Older models ran a cable, new models used electronic gizmo, but the gear portion is the same, or similar with a different shaft. But the gears can be swapped between shafts.
Here is the start of the process...first thing you have to do is pull the existing gear and count the teeth. You will lose about 1/2 cup of oil when you pull the gear so don't have your head directly under it.

It's been a few days, but put a new sticker on the back windshield. Also installed a Wheelskins steering wheel cover and bought some Husky floor mats. Also took @overlandunderbudget's idea on instagram and made a magnetic phone mount. Cost like 20 bucks and is rock solid, strongly recommend.

Man you need to need to go through those emails :) That mount looks interesting. I have a cheap one in the same spot and would like it to me more solid.

Haha I turned off email notifications and need to do a mass delete. This is the video I followed: https://youtu.be/oR4i7OqY15A

The mount should be linked in the video but I’m super happy with it! My only wish is that it could wirelessly charge.

I've got two good TBs as well if he doesn't want to sell. Dunno why I even have them.

This has been a week long project with more to go. But, I did finish my front end rebuild today. Both sides, UBJs, LBJs, upper control arm bushings, lower control arm bushings, cv axle reboot, new bearing in each hub, brake shields replaced. Degreased and wire wheels the frame, the arms and knuckle. Repainted satin black. A lot of work! Tomorrow I start on the back end with new j59s and some frame rot repair with safe t cap install.

Edit: also a new OEM steering rack
