I have posted a few threads back and click on each of the two ROM’s to research. In general Hal9K has resolved more issues and has a more robust software. Malaysk is also very good but based on fixes, Hal9K is better. It also has OTA (Over the Air) updates. Head over to XDA Developer links and register and read a few of the posts. Some good stuff -

I went with Nova Launcher and have customized my home screen and app launch icons. I have not had any issues.

I had recently updated to MTC 3.45 also when I was trying to update to the latest build from Dasaita, I just dropped it on a Fat32 USB drive and manually updated it via the settngs menu under MCU Update.

This Hal9 is very interesting, I'm glad you guys are sharing this info on this thread.
    Couple questions:
I have a PX5 that I'm using the CarLinkIt wired dongle and the AutoKit app to get CarPlay to work, Can I use the Hal9 OS and still get CarPlay on Hal9 with my dongle/AutoKit?
As you can see in my previous post I was having package install errors(E:footer is wrong and Signature Verification failure) when trying to update the latest Dasaita version, will I have these errors when trying to install the Hal9?
    Appreciate the help!

So finally got the update to push through thanks to @cameleon50 dropbox link. Not sure if it was the file, or the fact I saw the video and changed the view so it actually displayed ".zip". Which may have been the "header" issue.

I still dont know whats wrong with my unit I turn on the wifi and it automatically kicks off as soon as I exit the settings. My phone for some reason cant connect via hotspot. Anybody have an idea of what it is?

You may have something just hung up and since you had some issues I would do the nuclear option and do a couple things: 1) Reset Hal9K or 2) Do a factory reset on the system and start from original OEM settings. That way you remove any possible future issues. Could be kernel garbage, install hangs in code, etc.

Go here - PX5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPQgV_55Rkk or Click here for PX3 & PX6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT39nxioPJU. If you want to attempt a soft reset or more troubleshoot, there are some good videos when I search recovery mode px6 on YouTube.

Had a drive before everything went to poop, and my wife watched Into the Spider-Verse from Plex on our 3 hour drive on this thing, pretty awesome imo.

Did the factory reset, seemed to resolve the connectivity issues. Zlink still says "Please connect internet Synchronization time, then activate" I figured it was the wifi/hotspot but no dice. Attempted to google it, seems its an android thing?

I did factory reset -> 04232020 update maybe I missed a step? I just want stinking carplay to work lol

I updated to Hal9K yesterday and reinstalled Autokit and CarPlay seems to work smoother than on the old Dasaita firmware so you may want to give that a try

this thread has my mind switching back and forth from buying or not... There seems to be a lot of problem posts and a lot of praise posts.

    couple questions,

At this point is it worth getting the PX5 instead of paying the extra 100 for the PX6?
anyone have the front and rear camera setup to their mode button on steering wheel, i love this mod and would hate to lose it just because a new head unit.
It seems the first thing to do is change the os to HAL9k, not really a question.

Finally received my PX6 and got it installed. Like it so far, some issues with getting the wirless CarPlay to work but usually just have to do a quick reset and it is fine. Have not done much more with it.

No, as long as you have the system with the larger screen, mine had the JBL head unit, it will fit just fine.

If your radio looks like the first pic you will need a new trim piece, if it is like the second one you wont

but then on aliexpress i can get it for 370 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33017215598.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.88763c00XtfDMP&mp=1

pulled the trigger on the $505 one just because itll be here this friday. Also did you need any dongles or anything for carplay? it says the px6 has it but then im seeing you need dongles or a chip installed. Theres never a clear answer with chinese brands. Also your link says its running android 8.0 where the Amazon is running 9.0
