Does anyone have any advice on installing glass bedsides on a 1st gen without removing the bed? I know it must be cut off, any tips would be appreciated thanks!

Your two basic routes are drilling all the spot welds out or using a cutoff wheel to cut the bed. Either way it’s easier to remove the bed but you could slide the bed back 6 - 12 inches in both cases. My friend @Anthony250 did mine with drilling the spot welds all out. Here’s someone cutting the bedsides right now:

That link helps with the visual, thanks!
My issue is the bedcage/shock hoops make it so I can’t slide the bed out but I oughta be able to cut the stock bedsides and be fine as far as I can tell...

Cutting the bedside sounds like your only option. They may not fit as good but it works

I literally just did mine over the weekend. Mounted to factory bed. If you have any questions I’d be happy to let you know how my experience was.

I appreciate it...so basically I cut the old ones about the same as you and drill out spot welds and fit new bedsides and supports? Am I missing any steps?

I didn’t mess even with the spot welds. Just did trimming and fitting after dropping the outer panels.took Some forcing. Both the passenger and driver side were completely different in terms of fitment

Yeah I figured it’d be a pain in the ass with the fitment, How long did it take you? I assume you used a cutoff wheel for cutting?

yeah cutting wheel and a sander occasionally to clean up certain areas. I don’t mean to discourage you but it was a huge PITA. Took me the better part of Saturday to figure out the first side. Testing and cutting. A lot of taking on and off. Once I got the first side done I kinda had an idea of what I was in for with the other side and it went a little faster the next day but it was still different in the way the driver side fit. You just gotta play around and hope you got a good set of glass.

2nd Gen folks, Anyone here who has switched a 1-piece drive shaft, why did you switch and was it a worthwhile improvement? Like to hear your thoughts if anyone has done it. Trying to educate myself after fiddling with my two-piece shaft for last two months.

    Yes
I have one and love it, solves a lot of driveline bs...but I don’t think you can do one on a long bed due to length limitations ? The other limitation is gearing and how it translates to drive shaft rpm’s, with a dcsb i am limited to 4:30 gears if i want to be able to drive over 80mph

I replaced the carrier bearing and all 3 u-joints with spicer OEM so that's all good, I'm still ruling out some other gremlins as well (gonna see if tire rebalancing and u-joints on front shaft help). I have a good setup for SOA so I'm gonna stick with it and tune the shit out it (hoping to attain 6"-7" of bump travel after some modifications).
