Missing Transmission cooler.

Looking more and more like an intentional change.

For reference, it was mid-February that the shark fin was relocated again to accommodate the factory roof rack. The early 2020's fin blocked the rear cross rail.

 

More changes!

Back in the 80s, adding a cooler was a simple task and we would put them under the truck like the fuel tank, opposite whatever side that was on.

 

Well according to this article by Toyota the 2020 is supposed to have the ATF. Unless something changed after the article was released, which is possible.

I agree, restricting yourself to just one resource is counterproductive. I have thought about signing up over there but I can barely maintain here so.......

I tried calling but was on hold for a while. I sent them an email. If i have time later to sit on the phone, I might do so.

 

My concern then would be the warranty should the transmission have issues.

 

Either you have an upgraded new system or Toyota is going to put in a cooler for you. Either way not an issue for your warranty. I don’t know why anyone is advising you to install an aftermarket cooler given the circumstances.

 

I’m at a Toyota store right now. There are 4 recently delivered and they all have the cooler. 2 OR and 2 Sport.

I talked to a lady at Toyota for one hour today. Bottom line, take it to a dealer, she called a local dealer and talked to the service manager and discussed the matter. I called him, it went to his voice mail and I left a message to call me. He never called so I went in 6 hours later. He begins by saying the cooler is in the radiator. I say I understand but where is the external cooler. He tells me basically that the window sticker doesn’t mention a transmission cooler and I say it states that the TRD offroad has a transmission cooler in some of their advertisements. I then said you can’tead of proving it should have one show me an offroad here that doesn’t have one. He then shows me that round silver canister under the truck and tells me that’s the cooler. I said fine so a truck with an external cooler shouldn’t have the round one underneath then. It depends he says. He said he needed to do something with his kids and he would research it more in .the morning. He is supposed to call tomorrow.

The lady this morning at some point asked me what color the truck is and then says oh I see it’s white. Seemed like an odd question. It seems like they are trying to figure out why it shouldn’t have the cooler instead of why it should. Sorry, for the long post
