What're you looking for out of the topper exactly?

I'm a side-sleeper and my hips would 'bottom out' on my stock Tepui mattress which wasn't the most comfortable thing ever but I prefer a firm mattress and like to keep a lot of junk in the tent when I put it away so I didn't want to go with a topper both out of comfort preference and because I didn't want to burn so much space in the folded up tent. My solution was to put two of the classic non-inflatable closed-cell Termarest pads under the mattress, having the firmer closed-cell foam as a base for the softer closed-cell foam made a much bigger difference than I would've imagined(I already had one to try out before buying), I've had no complaints about the mattress comfort since. They also do a great job of providing some extra insulation for cold-weather camping.

I used two of these pads in the large size for my 56x96 mattress: https://www.amazon.com/Therm-Rest-RidgeRest-Classic-Sleeping/dp/B00HANOZRY/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1MAR1UAB46OJA&dchild=1&keywords=thermarest+ridgerest&qid=1592237997&sprefix=termarest+ridge%2Caps%2C216&sr=8-3&th=1
Two large and one regular would probably be good for yours, or three regular and keep one foot on an edge for gear.

If you're just after a plusher sleeping experience this is not that. It more-or-less feels like the stock mattress except your hip never bottoms out onto hard metal.

Went on a short trip down to old highway 105 for a couple days this weekend. Seemed to be a bunch of people with roof top tents on. Loving the FSR btw if anyone is on the fence about one. 06BA57C7-4769-40F9-A188-5C83A04A8BBA.jpg

I had a Roam. Great quality. Tent was solid. Zero issues. Company handles issues.

I sold mine because I was tired of dealing with a dusty cover when I went to set up camp site. Went hard shell.

There is dispersed camping at michaux. I scouted out a bunch of the sites last year and then sent and email requesting info. I received a reply from one of the clerks that partially read “We do not open the gates at the walk-in campsites. We currently do not have any sites that you can drive into except the large parking lot campsites where may issue multiple permits. They are campsites 1, 2, 21 and 22.“ Not sure where that picture was taking but it was mostly likely not in compliance with the forests regulations. I’d be hesitant to camp there with a RTT with the chance that a ranger may check the sites on occasion.

There are some places where the A.T. Goes through near Otis I have used, neat areas near the Deerfield River in Charlemont, but follow the Deerfield up into VT for some really neat places.

I need some advice.....I have ZERO experience with RTT’s, but a decent experience with regular tent camping. I’m looking for one for my short bed, but big enough for me, wife and two boys(10,12), we are small people. I think I’m gonna stay away from the 72” tents because I don’t like the way it hangs off the back. I am also looking at the KB voodoo 14” rack for the long bed. The three that I’m down to are, in order:
    1 23zero walkabout 62
    2 CVT Shasta
    3 Tepui Autana
The boys will be sleeping in the annex, on cots.
I have the walkabout first because the annex is the biggest, and it has the light filtering stuff, looks solid. Any other brands that I need to be looking at? These are all priced around the same. Thanks!

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
I know 23Zero makes various height annexes, to accommodate for tents being lower, like on the KB Voodoo rack. If they make the shorter annex for the size tent you're looking at, then that alone should be enough to push you to that. When I had my CVT tent on a KBV rack, the annex was worthless in the rain since too much material would bunch up.

    Yeah.
Keep in mind that the lower you mount the tent, the smaller the annex gets. I think my rack is about that height (CBI), and I've never even bothered using the annex -- but it's always just me and the dog. I'm partial to CVT, but there's a lot more choice these days.

Yea, I’ve already measured and the short is too small. The tall is about 3-4” too long, but I have a 2.5” lift that I have yet to install. I think the annex will be just about perfect.

My Google-ing skills seem to be lacking but does anyone know what are the measurements for the ARB mattress? Looking at options to replace or add something to make side sleeping a bit more comfortable. Thanks

So...... put a 2inch memory foam mattress topper in the rtt for this weekends camping trip and the rtt won’t close. Am I doing it wrong or did I waste 50.00
