    I'm going to be installing a dash camera soon, planning on wiring it to the fuse box. The power out from this device has two fuses, one needs to go to a fuse with constant power, the other to a fuse with power only when the ignition is on. I understand I will need at least one fuse tap and have never done this before, so I have a few questions:

    1. How do I know if a given fuse socket has constant power (unswitched?), or power only when the ignition is on (switched?).
    2. Do both fuses in the fuse tap need to be the same amperage?
    3. Does it matter which way the fuse/fuse tap goes into the socket (like is there a positive and negative side or something)?
    4. It looks like the 3rd gen fuse box has a socket at the far bottom-left with a line through it, does that mean it's a free socket to use?

    1. Easiest way is to use a multi-meter and measure into the pins while the car is turned off and the key is out of the ignition. Or find devices which should always be on like for example the interior light. And the radio for something which should only go on with the car powered on.
    2. No, because you are not using the fuse of the device you are taking the power from the pin. The bridge socket has its own fuse for the dashcam.
    3. Yes I believe so. Just turn the Bridge when it isn't getting power when it should
    4. You have to check if on the one side is a power reading

    I like this, however I think I would lose the parking mode of the camera since this would not supply power when the truck is off.

    If you are admittedly incompetent on electrical repairs, hire it done. You can learn, but it can be very expensive to do so.
