I like your truck man. I think the color combo you got really pops. I don't normally dig multi color setups, but yours really works. Congrats.

Changed to option 3 last week in preparation for towing and camping over the weekend. Jumped me up to 25" from hub to bottom of fender in the rear. Fronts are at 23" from hub to bottom of fender. Yes, the Taco lean is real, 24" from hub to bottom of fender on the driver side rear. The ride was a little stiffer in the rear but not by much and not to the point of uncomfortable, it actually still feels better than the stock leafs. The ICON RXT are great in that they have multiple thin leaves. Yes, the optional leaf does have a specific direction it needs to be install and there was only one way to install so that the plastic pads came into contact with just the leafs also. I do recommend installing compression adjustable rear shocks if you want to control ride comfort between fully loaded and unloaded. Compared to Option 1, overall the jump to Option 3 was perfect for towing and handled the additional weight without sagging too much or ever hitting the bump stops. Ride was softer when fully loaded of course, and the ride is still comfortable for daily driving unloaded. I don't have a topper that would add additional weight and space for more gear but if I did, I think I might have to go to the Dakar HD leafs to avoid severely sagging but for now these will work perfectly.

It was fun but I never want to do again.

Something's wrong with this leaf spring retaining bolt....

Unfortunately I didn't get any good pictures of the truck fully loaded and measurements on what that sag. I'm estimating it was about 1.5" or 2" of sag when it was fully loaded.

For reference this was last year on option 1 which I didn't plan for.

Curious what makes you think it’s wrong? Wouldn’t you want the military wrap on the fixed pin and not the shackle? At least that’s how I installed mine. Would love to hear feedback on this.

The issue is with the 4th leaf from top, the optional add-in leaf. Notice how the end of that leaf isn't staggered in length like all the other leaves. That's because it was installed with the front end at the back.

Did anyone sand and repaint, or just touch up, scraped areas that got messed up during shipping? I don't know if this metal rusts or not but I disassembled a pack, lightly sanded rough spots and chips, then put a few coats of rustoleum on each side before a light spraying of the SLIP plate stuff. I don't know if I dun goofed or if it was overkill.

Unless you live in the friggin desert, everything rusts.
@CAG Gonzo Im sure you didnt hurt anything, but it was probably overkill. I mean the road spray is eventually going to wear the paint off anyway unless you drive very limited miles.

You've probably improved the leaf pack's corrosion resistance by a few years. It's a lot more work than what most are willing to put in though. I thought adding leaf liners was time-consuming...

Fortunately I do live in a desert. Never hurts to be over prepared I guess.

I try to be a touch-it-once guy. Plus it's kinda fun. Gives me something to do. What are leaf liners?

The liner is supposed to be a long-term solution vs. grease or dry lube. Indeed mine are still quiet after a winter and several wheeling trips with no maintenance.

The hassle is just to cut the liner to length for each individual leaf and drilling a hole in each segment for the center pin. More time consuming than installing leaf packs as-delivered.

Shoot...maybe I should do that. That SLIP stuff is slick and putting the pack together was not easy. I probably won't do it just yet until I see if I was successful in execution. Compressing the leaves to get the center nut on made squeaking so I'm nervous.

I have the RXT pack on opt 1 for about 3 months with 4k miles now. Only a few light trails it's been on so far. Love how they handle compared to stock. In the last month or so, after the 1st trail the leaf pack is super noisy. Ive tired power wash and that lasted for about a week as well spray lube/grease..haven't tried the other method of spreading the ends of the leafs under no load and greasing the pads.

I'm considering this mention of the liners. Looking for a long term solution. I definitely do not want to be messing around with these packs on a regular bases. How have they been for you so far? Any issues with them staying in place? I read on on another thread mix reviews (good overall) on this method and the potential of them coming out of place and separating?? Love how these ride over stock but these packs are noisy as heck like a stagecoach from the 1700s

Mine started squeaking about a week after install. I drive on a lot of dusty roads for work so no surprise. I’ve been hosing them off pretty regularly and that seems to help for a little bit. But I think I’m going to have to figure something out as well. One of the reasons I went with the RXTs over Dakar was because I heard the Dakar’s squeak like crazy. I never had issues with the stock leafs squeaking, I wonder why that is? I’m going to try spraying some silicone or lithium on them if it drives me crazy enough. @Speed Freek told me that the squeaking may subside after the squeaky spots polish the contact points. Not sure how long that takes though.

My 2gen stock, had it for 8 years and few fire roads and now with my 3gen 25k miles in last 2 years before swapping, a hand full of fun trails and heard nothing. Now...totally different story.

Mine hasn't shifted. The lip on the liners in conjunction with the U-bolts and leaf pack clips keep them in place. I checked U-bolt torque after the first 50 miles, and the liners haven't compressed any further.

My 2nd gen's stock leaf pack squeaked after the first off-road trip. IMO it's a problem any time there's metal-on-metal motion without a lubricant, once dirt gets in.

Do you remove the brass spacer plates and/or the plastic leaf spacers if you use leaf liners? I caved and bought some rolls.
