TBH, I don’t know, haven’t really driven over 75mph, lol, goin grandpa style. With the camper and weight, and my previously over aggressive driving style, it just suits me better emotionally to drive slower, lol.

04b04, regular, stock, thx, 4.88 - about 500 miles now on tune - no bogging. No shifting issues - holds gear and downshifts / upshifts like it should. mpg has improved. So far perfect.

I think my issue was wrong tire size. The drive to work was much better today. I’ll keep adding miles and checking

I am 04B04, flashed "04B04_Reg_Stock.p5f", my truck is stock, no mods. Same here, my favorite version so far, but the double downshifts at freeway speeds seem too often and too sensitive (at least for me). I tested this to be sure, I set it on cruise control at 75mph and went up a very slight incline, new tune downshifts to 5th, then to 4th (around 3800rpm) and screams along for 3 miles up this incline, old tune downshifts to 5th, but stays there and hums along effortlessly. I am really tossed, love the new tune but I take this incline daily to get to work, so, I am back on my old tune (04B04+-+2.0+EPROM+87+-+Shift+Build+10867+-+Gearlock+P+M+thx.p5f). Maybe i will try 04B04_Reg_Stock_Thx.p5f and see if that is different.

My '17 had the same problem. Replacing the factory battery with an AGM fixed it. If the truck sits for while, the battery discharges and low voltage causes the random reset.

I like this. It seems to me a fairly good example of "every one of these trucks acts different". Implying that there is some Toyota God (devil), inflicting pain on the unwashed with what seems to be something akin to random selection.

And then somebody finds the actual cause. In this case it has nothing to do with OVTune.

To be sure, multiple ecu's make tuning a challenge. But over the life of this tune thread (a horrible way to communicate changes over time) there has been far too much "every one of these trucks act different".

What size tires are on your rig and what tune did work best for you?

So you didn't like the 33 tune much for your setup and went with the stock tune? I also have 31.6's, along with a steel bumper and sliders and am wondering if the 33 tune sets the rpms higher overall.

It seemed to short shift from 1-2 and lug the engine. Stock tire tune seems to have less of that. Again, the caveat beinow miles on the Stock tire tune. But even with reset LV AT it seems heaps better.

And you do have 4.88 re-gear also correct?

Ahhh. That makes more sense. The 4.88 version of the thx has been smooth so far

Help me understand because I'm getting crickets from the support email... in the beginning of June, I purchased the VFTuner and the $390 Tune pack. I've received my license key for VFT but never got a response back with any tunes after providing the required information. Now I see the tunes are downloadable as "2.0", did I waste $390? on a Tune pack? am I eligible for a refund ?

There are some variations to this, but Tune packs are still coming. The 2.0 release so far was a initial release and not editable in VF. The VF editable 2.0's are coming soon. The other tunes you can currently edit with VF are pre 2.0 versions but you can explore if you want. Don't request a refund if you still want to customize your 2.0 tune...just hang in there like the rest of us to await their completion for VF support.

I'm not sure I have any business editing them... but thank you for the response. This whole thing is a little convoluted to me, and its hard to sift through 3308 pages of a thread..

Just to clarify, I can flash my truck using the VFT and the provided 2.0 tunes that are out now right? I don't have to wait for the "editable" ones?

I'm not sure if this post answers your question? And if the info in that post is correct (@Shellshock is generally correct) then I think you would still need to install the p5f Flashing software. I could be wrong, but I don't think the vFTuner software will flash a p5f file.

You can flash P5F files using the utility in VFTune provided you have your master key and reg. key.

vf tuner still uses toyflash for tune flashing. vf tuner is just the editor for the tune files.

version 1.3.2 of toyflash (p5flash) can flash either p5f or vf files
