Don't you need a login to TIS to actually download the .cuw files though? That part I didn't understand, and hoped there was a repository of those files linked on TW to choose from. if not, that would be a great resource.

But no speedometer adjustment for larger tires?

Nope. He’s looked but that seems to be controlled by a different ECU. The shift points can be adjusted though for tires / gears

I'll just adjust my speedometer to adjust back to normal shift points. It makes no sense e to adjust for shift points but still have incorrect readings.

Adjusting the speedo does nothing to modify shift points

Factory sr5 tires are 30.4 inches, I went to 33.2, puts me off 9 percent. I can tell a big difference.

I honestly don't mind shift points how they are, I'm more concerned with the 9% off I am for mileage and factory shift points

My truck will be at a speed 9% off of where it thinks I actually am, affecting when my truck shifts. I can definitely tell a big difference at wot.

Your shifts are off because of the tire size change. Correcting the speedo is only going to make the speedo read accurate. The truck is still going to shift in the same places it is now. The only way to correct shift points for larger tires or gears is tuning. Speedo correction is only a display. The truck is still going to think it has stock sized tires.

First off, big thanks to wrightme43 and tonered for this huge contribution of time and energy!
Steve, great write up; articulate, in depth and easy to follow and understand.

I'm new to Tacomas and new to this site. Recently purchase a 2020 TRDOR with MT. I really enjoy the truck, but also am unhappy with the main reason this thread exists. Such a bizarre power band. I am very interesting doing this mod, even looking at new laptop to make it happen (so happens I was on the fence about sticking with OS or not - this will sway that). At this point the only thing holding me back is I wonder how this tune affect my warranty. Anyone have any idea on that?
    Thanks Guys!

It is invisible to Toyota as far as I understand it. Techstream can't see it. It changes what they did. The only change I noticed is it makes feel like it I imagined it would from the factory.

Don’t let the tune option sway your choice of OS. I bootcamped my 8 yo MacBook Pro and all is good.

The most current TSB CUW files are in a few threads on TW. I know they are in this one for sure:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/software-update-for-the-manual.562550/

MT: 04B13 and 04A71 are attached to the first post and Post 199.
AT: 04B04 and 04A61 are attached to Post 184.
MT: 04B14 is attached to Post 3050.

I'm off by 5% with my ATs. NBD. I just add 1mpg at 20mpg. Otherwise, I don't really care about the ODO. That's just me.

    You're welcome!

Technically, tuning will void the warranty on any vehicle. That said and IMVHO, OVT is much better for your motor and your driveline than the janky stock tune. I have a smoother motor that does not ping. I don't hear the driveline getting knocked around by the wonky throttle control. From that, I would expect to not only make it through the warranty period with no issues, but have much better longevity down the road.

Same. I’d be much more worried about the wonky shit the stock tune is doing negatively impacting longevity of this truck.

also I'm agreeing with whoever said 04B14 is smoother than B13. the difference is significant, motor seems to idle and return to idle much more smoothly than before. that was you, right @Shellshock ?
