Because FM is part of the old Flash Kit. vF is different and 04B14 launched after the change over. This is how it will work for new ECU IDs.

Users will need to unlock them.

Send the love toward the Dev thread for constantly making the tune development difficult.

Iiiiiiintersting. So Mat will no longer support new ECU versions in FM? Will everyone have to use VF tuner?
I work in IT so using the software isn't too difficult for me, I picked it up quick. But man, this is gonna confuse people lol. People need an easy one click flash

Yes. It is a transition. The existing folks are relearning. New folks will have a straight forward path.

Using VF to open and flash something isn't as straight forward as opening FM, filling in the drop downs and hitting the whammy.

Sorry not trying to knock the product, you know how much I love it! I'm just worried Mat is gonna spend the rest of his lift hand holding people lol.

The files get stored the same way. Even with FM, I moved the file that I wanted to flash to the desktop to be sure that I flashed the correct one.

Again, this is all thanks to the Dev thread.

If you have vf installed, you can just go into the install directory and launch toyflash if all you wanna do is flash a file.

with vf, you can also tune other trucks, further opening the community. So the people who are scared of computers or don’t understand etc can just have someone else do it for them.

Sorry, I meant Gears/Locker (synonyms) I see two posts by OVTune on the below dates for 'test' version and everyone is "saying its available". I am trying to get someone to confirm what is available. (Final, Final Test vs Test/Beta versions) Apologies for the confusion but its a hair ball of info out there.
All good and I did also request formal access via ZenDesk ticket.

The MT 2.0 Final is out. It is fully baked.

This was just OVT finding some interesting new stuff.

Went from 10 to 13 then to 14 in the same day and... Not really impressed, lol. Can't really tell a whole lot of difference to be honest... Oh well. If anyone is in the Colorado Springs area and wants to borrow my orange Tactrix dongle, let me know! Happy to lend/help flash.

That happens with some folks and some Tacos. It is very rare that folks say that the later calibrations are worse.

I am also late to this party, so I apologize. 2020 offroad manual double cab mt. First gear sucks! No low end, and takes awhile to hit the powerband. Is this update available for the 20'? Can it be done at my dealer?

As far as we know, there is only one ECU ID for the 2020s (04B90) and no TSBs exist. Keep an eye on the nhtsa.gov site though in case that changes. See the instructions in my signature.

You're only option for better low end is the OV Tunes. 2.0 Base will make your Taco feel like it has a normal V6. The SFOB (perf) tune is something very special with more grunt.

Appreciate the information. Love the truck, disappointed in the manual low end.

    You're welcome.

I completely understand. The hardware is excellent, it is just a 2mb file messing with you. OVT is very much worth it. We shouldn't need a tune to drive normally, but unfortunately it is almost necessary if you are noticing this. It is certainly less than other solutions, esp a trade in. Most of us get an MPG bump with the tune. For me, that will pay for the tune in 5yrs, not even counting the smiles per mile.

same truck as you. mine is a tire spinner in first & second. it's still a 3.5 so you have to rev it a bit, but you have the hardware. software is your problem. @tonered is right. but keep in mind, it's a 3.5 and you need to rev into the powerband... but yeah it's pretty difficult and muted with the factory tunes.

Figured I should just get the cable myself so I have the possibility of going to OVtune if I feel like it after doing the B14 update. Excited to see what the truck feels like going from B10. Kinda mad I didn't figure this out earlier and drive it like this for 4 years lol. Once I get the cable, I'm in Calgary and would be happy to let some local people use it.
