Got it about a week or two ago, not a fan. Trying to figure out how to tweak the sound settings (bass, tweets, etc).

I’m not gonna update it until I can use Spotify with it. Not trying to build another 30k song playlist on Amazon Music lol

Great, now Google can listen in to you in your truck and home

    * Update- I was reminded that Amazon is Alexa, Google is Home, both are listening devices so the sarcasm still applies* :pccoffee:

Actually, google doesn't integrate in any way w/ alexa. But Amazon can hear you, yes.

Amazon owns Google, I'm sure everything's on the up and up with absolutely no sketchy shit going on at all.

Pretty sure that's not true. But I agree on sketchy. I intentionally don't own any Alexa devices. I think it's all creepy shit. We are slowly becoming more and more surveilled and people generally seem fine with it.

This needs verification. I do think more research is required.

Meh, if the Gov't wants to listen to me let 'em, all they're gonna hear is me asking about the weather and adding fruit loops to my shopping list :anonymous:

That's a consistent attitude, but that is dangerous. We should be absolutely pissed about government surveillance and stop it while we can, if it isn't already past that point. We should also demand encryption without backdoors. Our information should be a commodity we own, not something free for everyone to take and sell.

Problem is, this isn't government surveillance, at least then there might be some security controls and restrictions on what could be done with the information. These are private companies doing this, for PROFIT! This is no different than your nosey next-door neighbour coming in through your open back door, looking around and making notes about your shopping, list, bill payments, etc....

That is correct, there are 2 separate but related areas. It exists at the government level directly, along with private companies selling that data to the government and whoever else. It is EVERYONE from your ISP, your search engine, probably your anonymous VPN service, your online shopping, your grocery store discount card, your credit cards, your cell phone, most if not all speech recognition, social media, etc. The government directly traps insane amounts of data for weighted scanning. I once heard that facebook isn't social media at all, it is a data gathering tool. That's more correct that many people realize. I am in a related business area and I see things that scare me. I don't keep social media accounts beyond a couple forums.

Look at your local "fusion centers" for a very high level data collection program. Federal programs make those look very tame.

this is what I can't believe people can't or don't see. If the police, government, or even a private company came to your house, looked around through all of your stuff, and then catalogued it all, to keep track of you, your interests and where you've been, who you talk to, and sold that info, you would be PISSED.

but when if that info is digital, all of a sudden its ok.
