Hi, I recently (5 weeks ago) purchased a 2020 Tacoma Sport V6 with automatic transmission. I noticed when needing to accelerate from a stopped or almost stopped position it takes almost a full second before the truck takes off. Once it gets going of course it's got a tons power, is there a fix for this?

    thanks

How many miles are you at? The Tacoma literally learns how to respond to your driving. Once I got my Tacoma past 20-25 thousand miles it started really going when I stepped on the gas. It does seem like it’s learned a lot.

I like to get rough with my trannys when they hesitate. Just make sure you don't blow one, I've made that mistake before. Have u tried using the ECT button yet?

Get ready for the hate OP.

Some people just can't move along past complaint threads they disagree with.

I'm sure there will be a couple of "I love my truck" threads as a... LOL, countermeasure, by the end of the week.

    That's TW!

Sounds like the same issue a buddies 2019 trd has. His also appears to slip into neutral when entering a slow corner off the gas. Its not quick and precise as my v6 2020 auto. There's a definite delay with his...seems the transmission can't decide what gear to be in soon enough.

A one second delay Starting out doesn’t seem right to me, My 2.7 L Auto had no start delays from day 1, have Toyota service check it out. For shifting gears it’s true it takes time for the ECU to learn your driving habits (maybe 500-1000 miles for mine) but that’s nothing to do with a delay starting from a full stop. And no, OVTune is not a cure all for everything it’s more hype than hoss.

Where in the manual does it state that the car will adjust to your driving after 20-25k miles? That doesn't sound right.

My buddies 2019 trd does the same, especially when waiting to take a sharp turn around a downhill corner. Its weird my 2020 sr5 isn't like that at all.

Took between 1200-1500 miles with my truck to really start operating like my tundra. Also noticed a power increase. You nail the petal at 40-45 mpg and it goes in a hurry. It would blow the doors off my 01 4.7 tundra.

The transmission does learn, although I don't think it takes that long.

That is exactly what my 2020 is doing, when making as an example a right turn an I need to merge into traffic I get the hesitation just when I need power the darn thing waits for not quite a second. I've purchased a Pedal Commander btw and it solved my problem but this is ridiculous I shouldn't have to purchase a 3rd party piece of equipment to get the truck to perform the way it should. I've heard mostly good about the P.C. but time will tell. not to mention it's runs close to $300

OVTune makes me nervous, Toyota could void warranty repairs if they were some how able to detect that the software has been altered. They could use the premise that the ovtune cause the problem.
