We don't know how to drive on this thread. We just rely on nanny control programs to do the work for us to make us look like we know what we are doing. *End sarcasm* (I am looking at you 3rd genners )

Your 3(-5) second push of the button is correct, but our trucks actually have between 3 and 10 modes, depending on MY and version. @David K provides the best explanation of the system I've seen, in his Simplified Guide to Traction Controls (TRAC, AUTO LSD, TRAC OFF, VSC OFF) thread.

This is good to know actually! Given that my 4th gear pull netted 386 wheel TQ I definitely am going to have to agree with you here, because a difference of nearly 110 points between the TQ numbers and the 277 wheel HP that the Dyno was supposedly reporting on the 4th gear pull made something seem extremely amiss. OE figures are supposedly 236 HP/ 277 TQ (41 point difference) on stock 1GR engines and adding a blower with mega mods should not net you a difference off 110 points.

Now my anticipation of my REAL Dyno day has me excited!

So in short, just disable the fuses. Lol.

Toyota over here is like the GM of Japanese vehicle makers with all those different mode options. Why man, why?!

VSCOFF mode is both VSC and TRAC turned off.
AUTO LSD is also in VSC OFF to 30 mph above which VSC is back on.

AUTO LSD and TRAC OFF require a quick push of the VSC OFF button, moving orstopped.
VSC OFF requires the vehicle be stopped, then press and hold in the button until light comes on (about 3-5 seconds).

^^^ the highlighted above is exactly what happened as the tech only hit my traction button quickly and didn't turn off fully according to what he said (holding the button for less than 3-5 seconds) so in which case according to the information above my traction was neutering my power in the fashion that Justin described. Power was left off the table for sure!!

I have always enjoyed the truck driving it in full VSC off mode. It feels way better that way.

IMO, it depends on what tune you're currently running, but probably not. @JustDSM (aka the Tacoma Whisperer) is best-qualified to advise.

You could get away with a stock tune running the 2.5. I wouldn't say it's ideal, but it has been done.

A dedicated tune for a 2.5 would be ideal and the motor would certainly be happier with you.

Well, I just went ahead and picked up a set of RIPP coil packs tonight for the truck. Once I have them in hand I'm going to toss them on and see how the truck likes it.

I'll run a data log for Justin to see if there are any gains or Ning improvements from it. Worse comes to worse I'll have a spare set of packs as backups just in case I ever get coil related misfires.

    Plus, engine bling bling.

Looks nice.... I'm guessing the concept is similar to the Accel SuperCoil for our trucks? I recall the Accel coil packs had issues on the 4.0L Forced Induction application. Don't recall the symptoms but I recall the owner removing them and reverting back to stock. Was it @RedLantern ?

The Accels are cheap made in China versions of our stock coils designed to have a supposed hotter spark in the same setup design as stock coils. These coils are notably larger and cool the internals better than what the Accels are capable of and therefore they can deliver the KV needed without frying out. At least that is their general theory behind their design... I have never been one to actually hop on the hotter coils train over OE designs but these seem to be well built and spec'd out and it seems like they actually took some time to do things right unlike Accel who just took the general OE design and ramped up the output with nothing else added to handle it.

I watched their Dyno test video before and after and it seemed that they helped out more than anything as far as power went and since boost tends to want to blow out spark due to increased cylinder pressures why not give it a shot. The Mopar community seems to be very happy with them and they make their own superchargers so you know they wouldn't just put out junk you know what I mean?

I reverted to stock from accel. It worked fine on stock ecu and could actually feel a difference. But when paired with UCON, it didn’t run well. Never took a data log but urd said they wouldn’t warranty if I had them on since it didn’t do well together so I took them off.

Interesting. It looks like a solid product. Looks better than the accel ones. How’s it running?
