Maybe somewhere out here on the Front Range is doing what @socalexpeditions is doing by having a Windows laptop, Tactrix cable and the tuning software and doing the tunes for people.

After reading the manual though, that sounds like a crappy job to have with having to connect up to the vehicle you want to tune to get the ECU ID, email it off to OVTune and wait (days? Weeks?) for the unlock code/file in order to proceed. Sounds like a multiple visit/trip to just get the first tune on it.

I dont think OVTune is doing it that way any more. they have made a program called vftune that is somewhat similar to hptuners. it has a bunch of base maps that you can get and tune to your hearts content. atleast that is the way they are going.

 

Maybe I can try and keep up sometime when I get my new truck a little more put together

That pic is from a 500ft bluff that I want make a trail to the top but its pretty vertical the last 50ft.

 

Went and did Medano Pass today for fun. Almost every plate I saw was from Texas or New Mexico. Going from east to west the trail is a little washed out in the switch backs and then everybody is trying to treat it like the baja 1000 and fly around blind corners. Deepest water crossing was maybe 16in.

 

I would say that if she is not technical then OVTune probably isn't a great idea. OVTune has discontinued creating full tunes (after 2.0) and are now selling their VFTune product which allows a user to basically create their own tunes. I see a lot of potential to screw things up for people that don't know what they are doing (myself included.) The full tunes have made some nice improvements and paired with a re-gear the improvements are significant (Certainly not 50 HP significant!) but that combo is a pretty steep investment. Personally, my overall experience with them has been pretty underwhelming.

Thanks, I figured as much. I'm a technical person and their website doesn't really tell me anything useful. I don't even know which "product" and how many arcade tokens one would need to buy to even do a tune on a vehicle.

 

Has anyone found an alternate use for the unusable factory sway bar?
It almost has the look of a front bumper for a go cart.
