    Edit: good place to start

i bet that cylinder is steam cleaned. check your oil just in case. make sure you dont have a milkshake. if you dont, then changing out the head gasket will probably be all you need. probably just steaming off all the coolant and its only leaking into the combustion chamber and not into the oil passages.

    Here is plugs (L to R) #3,#2,#6
    I still have a P0306 Code
I know coolant in overflow can fluctuate but as of now there is none. I changed oil yesterday and it was black like normal. I did plugs 20k ago at 120k miles.

Safe to just not drive it?

I paid for the warranty when I bought the truck and felt dumb once I was told they’ll weasel out of every claim they can. It might have ended up being worth it if the head gasket is diagnosed and is covered?

Those look fine, but so far, whichever cylinder that was you pulled the first plug from is compromised. You could drive it, but not long distances, and religiously check your coolant before you go anywhere. I'd take it straight to the dealer and tell them your concerns, I'm not sure I'd mention your investigating, but just that you noticed the coolant is disappearing with no obvious sign of where it's going besides internally.

How much longer do you have left on your warranty? Is it a Toyota motor Corp warranty or 3rd party?

It’s a the lifetime 3rd party sell your soul type. The soonest they’ll get me in is Tuesday morning. I am bummed.

On another note, who wants to buy my mods before I trade it in? If they’re going to molest it I’m not sure I want it even if it’s good as new.

Would you take a trade for an all pro bumper for the Demello one? Preferably straight up but I might be able to throw in a few bucks

I would snag the LCA skids if it comes down to it. I also have a super white 13’ front bumper if you end up doing some horse trading and want to sell one outright.

You’re overreacting. That motor has been around for ages and it’s not too difficult to replace the head Gasket for any mech worth his grease. It’ll be better than new after. No reason to ditch the truck over especially because it hasn’t overheated and you don’t have milkshake oil

I concur. A buddy of mine had a 2012 that threw a main bearing or something and they rebuilt it under warranty. He sold it cause he didn't trust the mechanics. I guarantee that truck is still driving just fine. And if not, you have a warranty that covers it

I agree with @hx989 and @Wyckedan don't write the truck off yet, a head gasket replacement isn't molesting it. An engine swap with a transmission and tcase swap, frame swap, parts from 5 different trucks and deleted 4wd/tpms/any ECU with hacked up interior pieces and sawzall cut fenders is molested. :anonymous::wave:

How many miles are on your truck now? That truck should serve you well for another 5 years easy after a head job probably closer to 10, especially since you caught it early without another major repair, unless the transmission goes south :crapstorm: .

Unless you're wanting to move on already and have been looking at other directions before you found this, I'd wait to hear back from the dealer before you go dumping parts. :2cents:

I’ve already been considering other vehicles before this started happening two days ago. It’s at 140k and I owe about what market value is for an 05 AC. It’s also the Sport. I’ve taken good care of it but I do not wish to drag it to 300k.

After putting it all back together and topping off the coolant, truck started up and CEL disappears. No shuddering or anything. I’ll still have the shop look at it on Tuesday, but until then I am kinda stumped.

If anyone has a camera to stick down the cylinder in the Puyallup area, I will buy you beer. @JimSnell ???

I have the P3 but it had features over redarc that I wanted. Redarc seems good when you just have one trailer to tow.

As for coolers...easy to install. The one like the guy installed in the linked thread is fine...just huge for the performance it gives. Look at something like a CSF one. Smaller , will perform better, but is going to cost more.

As for the trans temps...grab a cheap obd ii Bluetooth dongle and get the torque app for your phone. You'll have to custom add the pids for trans pan and the TC but it's the easiest option imo.

I've got a Scope with remote viewer, but I'm in Fall City. I could venture out that way this weekend.

Shit if you got rid of the code and it's running fine, straight to the dealer and trade it in! :D
