When are the Twins releasing? Also isn’t supercharger more reliable for something like towing?

Yes it can tow it. I tow a 23' center console boat. gas milage sucks, but it pulls and stops fine. weight of about 4500 lbs. no problem pulling it out of the water either.[IMG]

A Tacoma can't even move it's OWN weight around with any authority. You can't even use cruise control on a brand new truck. It's pathetic... and after 1.5 years of owning one I finally had enough and traded on a Tundra.
They couldn't be more different. Just drive one and you'll never go back to the Taco.

I traded my 2010 tundra crewmax limited for my 17 off road. I hated that Tundra

That’s what I needed to see! The boat were looking at is about that size. 2008 Malibu VRide. Hoping to pull the trigger and have it a couple months before summer ends.

Seems you'll be fairly well under the max tow rating, as stated above, using common sense and the features the truck offers, it should be no problem.

Are you on stock gears? I just was told by someone today that regearing could be $5k
I was expecting $2-3k so I may just get more familiar with 4th gear and add the leaf packs in lol.

First batch of 25 pre-production kits are being shipped very soon.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ovtune-3-5l-tacoma-supercharger-and-twin-turbo-systems.566390/

Reliability is probably yet to be determined, but proper maintenance would be a large factor for either kit.

Turbo's can provide full boost at lower RPM than a supercharger which is better for towing.

Since you already have OV tune, i believe the base kit will be around $4500

lots of crazy ass advice in this thread.. at 3500 pounds you will be fine.. even if you add a bunch of weight with fuel and boat accessories. not sure what your tacoma is rated to tow but my 2017 was rated to tow 6400 pounds so you are well below that..

what you need to worry about is tongue weight.. if its light enough no big deal too much and the rear bumper will be on the ground and steering is not ideal. i towed a 5500 pound travel trailer with my tacoma and other then the low payload and high rpm's it did fine... you'll want trailer brakes and a WDH if they make them for boat trailers... i used to put mine in "D" with the etc button depressed and went with it.. you will be quite a bit lighter then i was and a boat should be a little more aerodynamic then a travel trailer.

Stock gears. I use ECT with S4 and S5. Have a few small mountain passes but nothing crazy. I'm not winning any speed races, usually do 60-65 mph. Mileage in the 10-11 range. It's not a stressful time and the truck handles it fine.

I have a manual transmission, use 4Lo on the ramp, I definitely wouldn't trailer it on a 5 hr trip, but around town, no problem. Good luck!

The Tundra is a beast! You don't even feel anything when towing with the Tundra. I miss mine.

    Pros of Tundra
More Power. Tows pretty much everything and b/c of the power you hardly feel like it's towing anything behind you. Faster. Way more interior space, cargo space and bed space. My quad fit in the back of my crewmax. Smoother ride. More comfortable to sit in.

You know you're a badass when driving a tundra. My taco looks like every other gardener or pool boys truck in my area. I'm in OC California and every residential gardener and pool boy seems to drive a taco.

    Cons of Tundra
It's huge. Not easy to drive up in the mountains and maneuver through trees. Hard to park in downtown LA.

    Pros of Taco
CHEAP. Cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, cheap to modify.
Big enough to do what most people need a truck to do. Agile enough to take off road through the mountains and trees. Small enough to park in busy downtown streets and lots. FUN TO DRIVE b/c it's like a toy.

    Cons of Taco
Not much interior space or cargo space. Uncomfortable seats. Not much leg room if you have kids in booster seats behind you kicking your seat. SLOW. Lack of towing power if you have a large boat or toy hauler. No rear AC.
