Ticking noise from fan

The fan for my heater/AC makes a distinct ticking noise that's making me nuts at lower (vehicle) speeds. Does anyone know if access to the heater fan is an easy thing or does the dash need to come out? The only cure for this sound is to drive fast enough that tire noise eventually drowns it out.

 

Found the fix.

 

Dealer just replaced mine this afternoon free of charge. It's a TSB issue.

 

I had that as well - I just adjusted to speed and it went away - what is the problem?

My 2010 just started doing this. My simple fix will be driving it into the service dept for them to deal with rather than me having to pull the truck apart.

 

dude, mines been doing this forever. I've never found a fix for it (I haven't really tried). I dont want to take it in simply because if they take the dash apart then something else is probably going to start squeaking. Here is what mine sounds like.

edit, just saw the fan lives behind the glove box so I guess they don't have to take the dash apart. I was reading other posts saying how the dealership fixed it since it was TSB, but they squeak came back.

 

Welp I did this and the ticking is gone. It still squeels like a mouse when I turn the temp from hot to cold and vice-versa. Took about 45 mins to take it apart, clean it, lube it and put it back in. The hardest part was taking the fan blade off. Those things are stuck on there. I ended up using pry bar
