I don't really think its debatable.

No Toyota dealer is going to give said person PRO value on their clone OR for trade in nor will they sell it as a PRO and most buyers are going to be wise enough to realize its not a legit pro (VIN, bank valuation, etc.) not to mention the person who spent $39k on 2020 OR with similar options, only to spend another $3-4k (hood skewp, grille, suspension, wheels, badging, shift knob, etc.) trying to source all the parts to build a true pro clone, at that point you should have just bought a PRO at $46k, not really "ridiculous up front money" to just buy the pro than trying to build one.

Building a “pro” from a fully optioned OR (typically $43k msrp) with all new OEM Toyota parts is a around $10k.

Fully optioned OR is now $44.5-46k, which encroaches right on starting price for a PRO now, difference is pro you usually can’t get below MSRP or maybe a small amount below. OR you can easily get 10-13% off MSRP. $10k seems high, but ya my $3k seems low now that I think about it. But you can get takeoff suspension here for $1.5-2k, wheels for $1k, hood for $1k, grille for $500, lights for $1500, tails for $600, knob and what not for a few more. Should be closer to $6k with some sourcing between dealer parts/fleabay and here. Even so $39-40k discounted loaded OR plus $6k in parts, puts you right at pro price, and if we use your $10k mark even more, so yep definitely easier to just go Pro from the get go.

yeah. unfortunately, even a full decked out trd or buttoned up exactly as a pro verbatim just isnt gonna command the same premium as an authentic pro. thats just not the right...protaco .

negative ghost rider. The difference is one was put together at the factory and will remain under full warranty while fetching a premium on the used marked vs. a truck that got put together by some joe, which will very likely fall out of warranty on certain items and will fetch less than what is desired in the used market.

saying a modded TRD off road that looks like a Pro is the same exact as an actual Pro, is like saying, that a tranny that looks just like a female is a female. No... Fuck no! Lol

Pros are only issued by Toyota to people who drive Tacoma’s professionally. It’s the only truck suitable for a Pro Toyota driver. This is why a lot of pool cleaning companies and exterminators drive Pros.

I was selected for a TRD off-road because I am involved in developing the truck for racing.

The lucky guys are allowed to buy one of the very limited quantities of Limited Tacomas! So very few are made due to their runs being limited. These are the most special and sought-after of the models due to their rarity.

    The rare “Storm Trooper” pro.

meanwhile the sport model was designed specifically for the spice girl, Sporty Spice. These models are also acceptable for driving children to sports practice, but the intent was for the one spice girl.

Yes, I also missed the SR5, which is for Sport Rally drivers who prefer a 5-speed.

(actually the true reason for the SR5 moniker - was Sport Rally 5-speed back in the old days)

I mentioned that in some other thread and someone responded with “Wrong”

and we can’t for the SR models, designed for seniors and student reduced pricing.

And do you all know what’s crazy? If you add a few bolt on accessories to any of these models, you can make it a pro!

You know what I mean, if you change out worn out Fox shocks for something other than OEM would it diminish the perceived resale value?

As for Pro's holding significantly more than a loaded OR, time will tell.

Color, transmission and bed length can also be considerable factors in resale depending on the area.

No, you say it's an offroad with whatever Tacoma Pro accessory or if all it's a Pro clone.

It still functions and has every capability the Pro has, maybe even in a better color.

Some of you are assigning too much perceived value to the badge instead of the performance.

    Brighty vs Sinn.....
Sinn purchased the patent rights from Breitling when they fell on hard times...
Both LOOK the same sans the name.....but its the NAME that makes this navitimer's status...
soooo in essense the TRD Pro is a status symbol?? WOW that's shallow....

Somebody built one in QS in 2017 or 18, used e
OEMs part in the catalogue to build it down to retrofitting the sliding window which wasnt available then. It cost him a ton but that was his intention, to have a QS Pro Clone with a sunroof and King suspension.
