What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

It’s tricky but not too bad. I used a strap around each mounting arm and the floor jack under the pumpkin. Just took it slow lowering it a little at a time. This is my second time pulling it alone.

Yeah, lost power for a few min but other than that it’s fine. Had some tornado warnings and a bunch of wind but it’ll pass soon enough

 

Like @EatSleepTacos with the new crush washer and just make sure its tight to start with.

My only thing to add if someone didn't already. Make sure you can get the fill plug loose before you drain it. You will really be in a mess if its seized up and you drain all the fluid out.

 

DUAL BATTERY SETUPS:

Alright so i have a dual battery set up and i have the accessories running off the aux battery but it only allows this when the isolator pops on since i have the cole hearse one. anyway around this without breaking the bank?

If i can chime in too... 95% of day to day activities the topper is a real plus. Especially if it locks up decently. I have a much more secure aluminum contractor style topper and it has made a world of a difference in how safe i feel parking my truck in busy areas when i’m traveling.

plus never having to tie anything down, worry about dogs jumping out, it just makes life easier.

 

Part number for the charcoal canister? Is that for the emissions stuff on the drivers side of the engine?

Also what kind of snorkel are you adding?

I'll answer because you quoted me, but mine doesn't take additive at all, so I couldn't answer your question except to say that I can't answer your question. Sorry man. EST or Rick should be able to tell you...I'm sure they'll get the same notification I did when I came on here.

Mine doesn't take it either. I believe 09 and newer doesn't need the additive. I used Lucas oil myself.

Yes that is common and even if a truck doesn't need it, it's still safe to add. That will suffice and you don't need any extra additive.

My AC is doing the "I only like to go on HIGH" thing. I checked out the harness and it does have a little browning to it.

Is that covered under the TSB? My truck is a 2013.

 

My 2013 did that. Relay went bad. It was covered only under my extended warranty. It still acts up. In fact I need to take it back in because it is now a 3 speed and not a 4 speed fan. No variation between first and second setting. I was told it’s a common problem.

 

So no worries if I already added the additive? Just don't want something terrible to happen....

 

Replaced my spark plugs. Around 111,000 miles (179,000 kms).
Looks like the dealership (or previous owner) replaced them once because they are all Denso.
Everything seems normal to me. Unless someone thinks different?

If it's not covered it is an easy fix. All you need is a 5.5mm socket, wire strippers and the kit comes with crimps. Only takes about 30 minutes.

Mine just went out a month ago.

Yeah Looks like an easy fix! I just want Toyota to do it. My entire HVAC system blew out under warranty about 2 years ago and they replaced it. Hopefully they'll do this. I'd prefer them do it because it involves splicing and soldering. Easy enough but they'll be peace of mind if it's "certified" ya know?
