What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

I feel like Pro Eagles and Hi Lifts are apples and oranges. Don’t get me wrong Pro Eagles are super badass jacks but they’re only a jack while Hi Lifts are okay jacks but very versatile recovery tools that can do a lot more than change a tire.

Love that truck! Really like the fenderless look with the filled holes and liner. Been contemplating doing that myself.

 

What did you guys do about the liners? I cut tabs, bent them up, and currently have the stock liners zip tied. Its ugly though and just temporary.

Had mine chopped up for a long time. Pulled the driver side one finally, and will pull the passenger as soon as I cover the hole from the intake (that I moved...). I also pulled my flares a long time ago.

I already have the cowl air intake reroute. So you're just running without liners eh? I've heard mixed input on that. Some of which are saying don't do it, but I don't think those people have real experience with the topic. Feedback from people who run without liners, go offroad a lot, and have no issues (or had issues) is what I'm seeking.

 

Seems like just about everyone with 35s does without liners.

 

I took a bunch of pics of some of the aftermath and my thoughts after pulling my liners a few months ago with the plan of doing a write up for people who are considering this. I'll post the link here once I have it written up.

 

I recently jumped up to 35s and have been in research mode about the liners, somewhat lazy though in my research efforts.

 

I’ve been contemplating custom liners. I still have my full fenders for now, and was planning to cut some of them out and leave tabs to attach a liner to. Even bought some plastic to try making the liners and just haven’t gotten around to it.

 

Id consider it if I offroaded more. I do the occasional fire road exploration but not much else

I'm working on my patience but got a ways to go. In this future thread, are you recommending for or against running without liners given a nexus like trimming fenders to run bigger tires?

 

This is what I am toying with. I got the tabs ready. If people who wheel regularly and hard run without them with no issues it would go down on my list of projects; or vice versa, it'd go up if they did have negative consequences running without them. For now I got my zip tie job.

One argument for me and the flareless look. Look how perfectly my bumper lined up with the fender (sans flare)!!! It’s like Mobtown Offroad was reading my mind.

 

Didn't you cut your fenders or am I off on that?

I just noticed it looking at my post again just now. I like the bumper even more now. Time to take it out and scratch it up!
