Regearing is adjusting (in simple terms) how your truck's varying gears shift and perform. I believe stock 2020 tacomas with auto transmissions come in at a 3.91... Which is arguably low, meaning you will struggle to hit your 5th and 6th gears, which hurts fuel economy but mainly hurts your ability to grab power when/where you need it. As you increase tire size and weight, your truck will perform differently. 4.88 and 5.29 are different ratios available to tacomas and for different reasons. There is a thread somewhere that outlines the differences with a good breakdown, I just don't remember where its at right now.

I had the OEM Predator steps on my truck when I purchased it and I’m trying to sell them for two reasons, one, they reduce clearance when off road, and two, they mount to the body as opposed to the frame and can cause additional damage to the cab rocker panels if ever bottomed out. As an aside, my wife also disliked them as she dings her shins often when climbing into the cab. They do look nice though, so if you’re not concerned about off road protection, or practicality, you may be happy with them.

No, I am currently working in Medical Affairs Admin, although I did some training this spring in prep for the COVID surge. It’s been about 13 years since I worked in a Trauma Center, loved it while I was there, but now, being in my 60’s, I don’t believe I could handle the long hours and chaos for too many shifts. I did a rotation in a COVID unit during my training and it about wore me out. It certainly helped me to appreciate the hard work of the floor nurses taking care of the COVID patients though.

I'm leaning towards TX just based on the location, politics, etc. but looks like AZ has more job openings slightly better pay. Wanna work in Peds, ED and eventual flight nurse. Not ruling out a VA residency either being a disabled vet figured I probably might have a few extra points for hiring preference. But ya at 34 I'm no spring chicken either, not looking forward to those inevitable night shifts again. Glad you aren't hanging out in COVIDlandia. Swear I lost 5 lbs just donning and doffing PPE this past month in rotations.

AZ has a lot of things going for it besides jobs and pay, there is a lot of public land for wheeling that you just don't have in Texas. I also love that you can be in the mountains and 20 degrees cooler in a matter of hours from the Phoenix area.
