Thinking about upgrading the Premium JBL stereo system in my 2020 Pro. Stumbled across a company called TacomaBeast that has a kit ready to go for the Tacoma. Has anyone bought one? Was it worth the money? Thanks!

I know nothing about the JBL factory system or this TacomaBeast company but aftermarket sound systems are almost always better sound for the price. With factory sound systems you are paying for the convenience of better sound being installed day 1, not better sound than aftermarket.

TacomaBeast doesn’t make the sound system. TacomaBeast has a deal with OEM Audio+ so they can move more product a little quicker. But either way, OEM Audio+ has no comparison. Easily the best sound system I’ve heard in a car

There's a handful of threads going around for upgrading the 2020 JBL-equipped stereo. I'm nearing the start of my own install, but Amazon's taking forever to process some orders, so I'm kinda SOL in the meantime. I'm going to try and do a thorough write-up when it's in the works, though.

The current consensus is that if you're looking to keep the stock head unit, going with the PAC AmpPRO AP4-TY12 is the way to go.

If all you need is the adapter for the JBL amplifier's wiring harness, that's the APH-TY04. This is the way I have to go, as I opted to use stuff I already had, and not get the AmpPRO.

I had the OEM Audio + and recommend it for the ease of install and great sound quality.

    For extra clarity,
OP's got the JBL system, which means there's nothing compatible (yet) from OEM Audio Plus(and, by extension, what you can purchace from TacomaBeast).

OEM is "working on" the solution for JBL. If you sign up for their email list they will let you know when it's ready.

Right, but from what I understand, the JBL components (as evidenced by the non-change in the APH-TY04 wiring harness for a couple years now) haven't really changed throughout 3rd gen's existence. Personally, I'm not going to hold my breath.

It’s better to order directly from the seller than a brand ambassador. Search this website for reasons why.

Just going by what I've read, as I have zero experience with anything other than the TY04 wiring harness, it sounds like you wouldn't receive any benefit without other components. This unit just serves as the middleman between the stock stereo and aftermarket amplifiers/speakers.

I ended up with the Focal Toyota kit and a JL Audio 400W amp. My truck sounds amazing!

Can you please tell me more about your Focal kit? I went on-line and couldn't find much about it. Where did you get it? Was it plug and play? Any other info would be greatly appreciated!

I did go there but that was even more confusing. They don't have a plug and play kit.
