What to do with the overhead Garage Door Console....

Thanks to everyone here, the new Tacoma has been coming a long. All the mods and advice have been awesome. With a Taupe interior a map/compass unit was not in the cards, but thanks to you guys I knew I had the wiring and ordered a genex mirror and have the temp thing covered with what should be an easy easy installation.

So what the hell do I do with that stupid garage door opener compartment. I don't have a garage that uses it and would probably do something more concealed anyway if I did.

So has anyone found a useful function for it.

Do they have any bluetooth modules that fit in there for the tacoma?

Been racking my brain to use that space for something

 

I use the sun glass holder up there for my sun glasses. Not sure what model has a garage door opener holder.

Never thought about it really but, off the top of my head, and being influenced by the recent awesome bed light mod of somebody (I will search for it here in a minute)... I say put some bed lights in and mount the swich/button up there.

Im thinkin about making it a spot to mount a few switchs. Or some kind of flat radio face that can fit in there.

You could use it as a base for a Scanguage install. Flip it up into the closed position when you don't need it or are parked in a public place.

 

I'm looking to install an overhead LED to light up the cupholders. I bought the LEDs to do the lighted cupholder mod a year and a half ago and haven't gotten around to installing them. I really like how our highlander has the overhead LED pointing down on the cupholders, so now I'm considering doing something like that instead for lighting the cupholders. If I go through with it this winter, I just might mount it in the garage door opener space. Maybe you could beat me to it? LOL

 

Sorry; forgot all you TRD guys wouldn't know what I m talking about The garage door holder is for us poor slobs with the base model or SR5 models.

Some good ideas, there must be something really neat you can do with tat overhead space....

I'd be interested to see how this pans out. I have a Highlander also and like the LED that lights up the console.
