Yes. Those tires will rub when doing pretty much anything other than driving straight on flat asphalt.

I’d bet money that thing hits the fenders. “Minor trimming”. Thing obviously never been flexed.

A lot of 3rd gens with the right offset will not hit the fender trim. But it will hit the fender liner. Especially with an MT which usually run larger.

Some, but manageable. Going in reverse while compressed can get hairy fast though...

What’s people’s thoughts on stock gears And 35s for a while? I have 295s (BFG KO2s that need to be replaced) with stock gears. Was thinking about 35s, but ~2k for new gears will have to wait. Because I need a new fucking steering rack and inner /outer tie rods :annoyed:

If you are regearing might as Well throw locker(s) in at the same time:stirthepot:

But, per your inquiry I believe @singletrack_ftw has been doing it.

I ran 35s on stock gears for a couple months with no issues but just around town. Once I regeared, broken them in, and could drive normally, I noticed a big difference though.

I did that for 2 weeks. On flat roads it’s fine. But it is a dog on hills. And off roading I would really dread the poor control in low range uphill.

I figured as much. The timing is impeccable of course. When it’s time to get new tires, turns out the steering rack also needs replaced. Maybe another round with my 295s... we will see.

I really want the LCA pivot, steering rack upgrade, and axel upgrade that JD fab offers anyways. Maybe I’ll do another round with my 295s, until I can swing some serious suspension upgrades. I already bent the steering rack with 295s. I have a feeling if I jumped to 35s, I’ll hurt a new stock steering rack and/or my axels anyways.

OP your opinion of the difference between 295s and 35s on stock gears? @TrailYeti

Naive question, how do you know your steering rack went bad?

Cab mount area. I have a crazy offset though. -25mm + 3/4” spacers.

It depends, honestly. If you go with as light of a 35 as possible and mainly drive your truck to the trail and back it wouldn’t seem that bad. If you daily drive/commute, it will get old really fast...like it did in my case lol.

All valid points considered here ^ but I have been daily driving my truck with 35’s all over town and it’s not getting old whatsoever. I live in AZ, and don’t go up mountain passes unless I’m wheeling or camping. Truck has been totally fine on stick gears but it def sucks trying to crawl slowly uphill wheeling in 4lo

Been doing it for a long time. And I still have no regrets. 4:88 will make the truck 100% better though especially wheeling 4low trying to crawl

Yeah, if I had a shorter, more flat commute, it wouldn’t be bad at all. Lots of hills and mountains in Oregon too.
