Can you still buy Russo's in your area? I've got an old CW2 that was a great little heater with coal but is too small for an all-night burn with wood. I've got it stored in the garage for 'someday' when I build a stand-alone workshop. No air wash on the glass, either, so I was constantly cleaning it when I was burning wood in it.

Ok, that makes sense. I thought that they had gone under. Still see their stoves pretty regularly in Craigslist, though.

We cannot find a stove we want.
Going to seal this and get a few more years.

    I think that's a good choice.
Think about it, you can fix the old banger for a few bucks and it will run like almost new.
Or You can by a shiny new one and you'd miss the fun of fixing the old one and you'd have a bigger bill to pay.
You may get less mileage (more wood) but you won't have the bill.

We replaced one of those a couple of years ago. We kept it pretty well maintained, even bought a replacement catalytic combustor at one point. But technology has definitely moved on. The new one burns a heck of a lot cleaner. I won't say it makes more heat in terms of warming the house, but I think we get more heat out of the wood now. Even so I probably would have kept using the old one, but some parts were getting hard to find or were simply unavailable.

    Thank you.
I am replacing the baffle. A little over 30 dollars.
I need to remove some material from the rockers to free them more. 380 dollars to replace.
(Both because of the operator malfunctions.)

I wish I could decide on a stove to replace it.
We have a 'ventilated' log cabin. About a thousand sq ft. We need a stove rated for a larger area.
The websites are full of marketing to fancy people. We are not.
I was interested in the Ideal Hybrid, but it needs a combustor replacement now and then.
I like the idea of soapstone and steel. But, not sold.

I removed more cement after this photo. This is the extent of the rebuild. Just to top, and sealing the inside corners.

There’s nothing I can really do with my stove. My only option is to buy a new one or just keep it. I’m going to keep it for now because I am in the process of getting my kitchen redone, a new deck, and a shed ( but I need some tall pines taken down first )

I really do wish those were oak trees or a hardwood of some kind or another

I would like to put my shed/wood shed where those pines are. It’s flat, the roots will be a little bit of a problem as I intend to garden there also.

What stove did you replace it with? If I may ask.

We looked at that, too. That one is a doable stove here.

    Thanks.

I use it for starting and also spring and fall . Our shoulder seasons can be pretty long , not necessarily cold but damp

I use them for the same thing; anything with any size gets put into the woodshed for the cookstove, the smaller stuff gets put into feed bags and used for kindling.

Where do you buy your gaskets for the glass windows.
    Rutland is 54" long, I need 60".
    Recommended 3/4" wide.
