Yes, with everything factory connected (germes box and cabling completely disconnected) the rear camera works fine. I emailed and texted The Taco Garage and they did respond to my email and said “Hi, Thanks for reaching out,
I'm sorry for the inconvenience, this is not a common problem which would indicate a defective unit.
I will send you a return label for your current equipment and ship a replacement asap.
    Thank you.”.

So I’m just waiting on the return process to move forward at this point.

I think the best way to get ahold of them is via phone call.

Since you have a 2020... have you confirmed that the DIP switch settings are correct?

I tried different switch settings with no success. If you have a specific switch configuration to try, I’ll try it. The only one that looked like it would have any effect was 3 and that made no difference. The rest are labeled not used for the most part. I would have to look again but if I recall only 1-4 actually had any purpose according to the sticker on the controller.

AFAIK yes. I don't have any problems with the default DIP switch settings.

This thing was plug and play for me. No knock on Taco guy or anything. I just bought the Germes right from the MFG.

IIRC the first 2 dip switches are on, the last four are off.

I don't have a 2020, but I had tagged @jarbarian because I knew that he does and he had his working. There are a couple of other posted with working 2020's also, but I don't recall names.

The way it shipped was first 3 switches on and the rest off. That is how I initially had the switches on first power up as well as many others. I just don’t see what other switch beyond 3 that would cause the rear camera not to display (I tried powering up with switch 3 in both positions). Since I have no camera image regardless of the position of switch 3, that makes me think the controller is just malfunctioning. I don’t even see the screen flash when I change inputs (placing the truck in drive, reverse or using the mode button). It’s as if the head unit does not see the controller at all.

Your issue may not have anything to do with the switches. I simply asked the question since the switches are there on the device, and one or more could have been inadvertently changed. Aside from that if all of your connectors are firmly seated and you have no front or rear camera display, then the unit may well be defective. :annoyed:

I’m not sure if this “(I tried powering up with switch 3 in both positions)” was understood the way I meant it. I meant I had switches 1,2,3 all on and the rest off, and when that didn’t work, I set switches 1 & 2 on and all others off. Even disconnected the battery in between and still no luck. It’s not a huge deal. The Taco Garage seems to think it’s a bad unit, so I will wait for the return process to complete and try with the replacement unit. If I’m doing something stupid, it should reveal itself if I fail in the same way.

Sorry you are having a hard time with the kit, it should have been a simple install for you... sounds like a bad unit.

Like you, my unit was sent to me with the first 3 dips set to the on position and all others to off. I initially set the 3rd to the off position and installed (with battery disconnected). All worked fine but I later set dip 1 to off, 40 secs was too long for me.

I hope the new unit will fix all for you...

I completely understood what you meant. But I also remembered seeing someone else's post with almost the exact same symptoms. I searched until I found @CP40's post. I recall as well that CP40 also thought he had a defective unit, but it turned out not to be the case.
Why did your rear camera work intermittently and with lines through it? Maybe one of the connectors was not fully seated on the initial install, and then after you reseated the rear camera acted exactly like CP40's.

You win. I don’t know why. Is it a bad harness, I don’t know. Did something get fried when I reconnected the battery, I don’t know. Am I just so stupid that with an associates degree in electronics and 20 years of experience working on low voltage electronic equipment, I can’t figure out how to plug in two connectors and set a dip switch pack correctly, I don’t know. I have had this stupid thing connected and disconnected in the truck way to many times and as a result scratched up the dash trim. I was initially asking for assistance in the event that someone knew something helpful that was not posted in the forums. I am able to search the forums myself and read all the same posts you are quoting. So as I said before. You win. Let it go.

I don't win. I was only trying to help you out. I also have a degree in electronics, and in business administration. I've worked in the electronics field for 45 years, the final 25 of which I was co-owner with 3 others of an electrical engineering company before retiring earlier this year. If you had searched this thread you should have seen CP40's post that mentioned symptoms practically identical to yours. Maybe you did, and you chose to ignore it. You're pissed off because you scratched up your dash. I'm done trying to help you.

Anybody with a 2020 with MTM install this yet? Wondering if since I already have both front and rear OEM cameras, if I don't have to install the harness, just the box inline with the head unit. Still haven't heard or seen if this will play nice with front OEM camera on 2020 if anybody has heard. Im curious about the OEM side cameras too lol. Cheers

    Hi @FreshMexicanTaco and @Car Solutions.

I finally got around to installing my 2020 anytime camera kit recently received from the Taco Garage pre-order. Unfortunately I cant get my kit to work. I have a 2020 with Multi Terrain Monitor so no need to add any cameras as I already have both front and rear OEM cameras. Neither works though. I can hear the controller click but nothing changes on screen. If I put truck in reverse, rear camera works properly, but if I toggle between cameras from here, I get a blank screen on the front camera setting. Once I go back into neutral, cannot get either camera on screen but can still here the controller clicking. Any ideas? I tried the different dip settings and disconnecting battery, no dice.

Please help, not sure what to do from here.

    Thanks in advance

Is your HU the jbl version? This could be the first problem? Maybe someone else can chime in if they have it working on a JBL HU... (With or Without MTM)

As per Car Solutions website... "Note! In order to make sure that operation algorithms are working correctly, front view camera should be powered up only from the RFCC ."
