Routine Maintance

Does anyone here get the 15,000 mile or 30,000 mile service at the dealership? They charge an arm and a leg for the service. Anyone know what they actually do for the 15,000 mile service, and if I could do it myself?

One more thing, I have the mainreq light turn on while I was driving down the highway, the book says to change the oil, but I just did about 2k ago. Anyone have any suggestions?

 

save yourself some $ and diy. simple stuff, and the dealer sure likes to charge alot for it. all you need to do for the 15k service is oil and filter change..check air filter, rotate tires, and just check stuff over. nothing to it really. even the 30k is simple....and the dealer charges way too damn much for that one.

Thanks for the info, I finally found the list of what they do for the 15,000. Two things I am unsure about, Re-torque propeller shaft bolt, and lubricate propeller shaft. Are these things hard to do, if so are they really nesesary at 15,000 miles?

 

Keep receipts and detailed records for anything you do yourself. May need the proof it was done should you ever require warranty work.

BTW..I spent 4 years in Cimarron Hills. Good memories.

 

all that really is is tightening the driveshaft bolts and greasing the drive shaft .........and honestly, i really doubt that the dealership would even take the time to touch the driveshaft, even if you took it in. those bolts are already pretty tight to begin with....but if you have 4x4........i'd grease them for sure.

 

i hate when the dealer tries to lie to ya..........and you know what the deal is....then ya show them, and they get pissed......thats funny as hell!!

 

Just like putting a scratch on the oil filter. The good thing with the V6 is it's looking right atcha so no need to crawl under to plant the scratch.
