What are some good aggressive tires for a daily driver?

Hopefully they stay that way for you. Mine tended to get progressively worse per mile with a little reprieve at each rotation. But that was on an FJ.

I hope not, I was going to get the KO2's, but I read a lot of reviews on Tire Rack that the new KO2's don't do so well on wet highway's. A lot of reviewers were describing wet highways as scary and they felt they were not in control. This wasn't just a few reviewers it was the general consensus.

I live in Florida it rains everyday here. The highways tend to get really slick with all the oils mixed with the water ponding. I needed something that could handle the wet.

The little Staco isn't so stock any more.
265/75/16 Duratracs no rubbing at all.
Stock shocks need to go tho. =).

Next to go on is a set of 4 OME Nitrocharger 90021
887 Coils to coincide with the Winch Install
    ELO95R Leafs in the rear.
Then a Winch and Hidden Winch Bumper Mount.

Good looking ride. The duratrac look never disappoints.

    Thanks =).

They look better than the stock Hankooks that's for sure. They handled the sand at this beach without an issue.

I just have to remember that I have 4 wheel drive and stop plowing through sand like I have a 4x2 lol.

Well, I did it. I traded the Duratracs for some Ultraterrains. Discount Tire had a rebate for the Ultraterrains plus they gave me $120 credit for my 4 Duratracs which had about 7/32 tread left. If I had waited another 5,000 - 10,000 miles, they probably wouldn't have given me anything for the Duratracs.

So far, I think the Ultraterrains look pretty darn good, just not quite as aggressive as the Duratracs. The best thing, though, is that the Ultraterrains are so much quieter! I hum along at 80mph pretty regularly, and the Duratracs would drone like crazy. Now I can actually hold a conversation at freeway speeds.

Next, I just gotta wait see how they hold up on a few rocky trails and what their traction is like in the snow.IMG_20200822_185557.jpg IMG_20200822_185550.jpg IMG_20200822_185543.jpg IMG_20200822_185530.jpg

They aren't as quiet as the stock tires but they aren't very loud at all IMO. You can tell your driving on a more aggressive tire if thats what your asking?

Stock suspension? Those still look pretty aggressive for a much tamer road ride.

I just recently had some Yokohama geolander g015 installed, P245/75/16. They are as quiet as the factory Firestone LE2's that came standard on the sr5 trim. For AT's they are a good tire so far. IMG_20200823_163234.jpg

We went with 285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Did great off road, but rode really well on road. Relatively quiet too for a more agressive all terrain tire.

Yep stock suspension on a 2018 DCLB Off Road. 265/75/16 SL tire size which is slightly larger than stock. I'm hoping that these perform similarly to, but probably not quite as well as, the Duratracs. Other than the road noise, I loved the Duratracs. But since I'm not a mudder, and I don't crawl much, I think the Duratracs were a little more than what I needed.

I'm a little worried about the side wall strength, but considering all of the trash talk that I've seen about the side wall strength of the Duratracs and Ultraterrains in the forums, I haven't seen much actual evidence of it being a problem. Just hearsay and speculation. Plus, I never had an issue for the 45,000 miles that I had the Duratracs on around the roads and trails of Colorado.

In the same boat, want something aggressive enough for the weekend trail trips but 90% of my driving is highway so want to keep road noise to a minimum. Ultraterrains may be the way to go.

Any normal AT will do you fine. Nitto Terra Grappler (or G2), Cooper AT3 series, Falken AT3W, Toyo AT2/3, there's a handful of others I'm not mentioning. Don't buy a mud terrain or hybrid AT because you'll hate the ride, poor pavement tread life, road noise, susceptibility to hydroplaning, and poor wet handling.

From what I've seen so far, there isn't a ton of feedback on the Ultraterrains yet, but more importantly, I haven't seen anything particularly negative anywhere. One of the most persuasive posts that I saw about it was from the @Discount Tire account on Tacomaworld:

"The two models in question are both All-Terrain tires (clearly) and utilize similar internal construction. Besides the tread design, both are pretty similar in performance. From the feedback I've seen, the main difference is that the Ultra Terrain tends to ride a little quieter on road do to a slightly aggressive tread pattern." https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...r-wrangler-ultraterrain.660912/#post-23122562
So if it has pretty much the same construction as the Duratracs but with a slightly less aggressive tread, then I think I should be good to go.

I don't have a Tacoma (yet) but on my Jeep (please no hate, I'm offloading this thing as soon as I can and never looking back!) I do a little over 75 miles a day for a commute and I was between the KO2, AT3W and Duratecs - I went with the AT3W and have been very pleased. Wear is great and they do really well in the snow and rain. I have coworkers who run the Duratecs and KO2s and both are really happy with them (they don't drive as much as I do but same weather conditions).
